Well originally I was planning on picking up the HP Slate when it was released since it would have Windows 7 and the Broadcom Crystal HD chip, but unfortunately it seems it's been canceled in favor of a WebOS based tablet PC. Unfortunately WebOS doesn't really appeal to me since I really wanted something with Windows so I could watch video in any format (obviously 1080p video isn't possible on most netbook type hardware), and play some older games such as Warcraft 3 during free time between class. (So Android and definitely the iPad are out of the question) I would really like to not pay more than $600.

Here's two options I've been looking at recently:
    ExoPC Slate
    http://www.exopc.com/en/exopc-slate.php

    Pros:
    11.6" Screen 1336x768
Broadcom Crystal HD chip for HD video support
2x USB ports (for keyboard and mouse use when stationary)
    HDMI port

    Cons:
    32GB SSD Hard Drive
    Price: $600
Wait till it releases sometime this summer

    Lenevo S10-3t
    http://www.newegg.com/Product/Product.aspx?Item=N82E16834146704

    Pros:
Intel GMA 3150 is slightly better than the GMA 500
    6 Hour Battery life
    250GB HDD
    VGA out
    ~$500 and it's out now

    Cons:
VGA out (I would think HDMI would be better for putting movies on my TV)
    1GB RAM
Windows 7 Starter (I would have to upgrade to Home Premium to get full touch screen utilization)
Won't be able to do HD video playback very well.
    No built-in bluetooth support.

Well these are two options I've looked at so far. Does anyone else have any other suggestions. Personally I don't care either way if it's solely a tablet PC or a Netbook convertible. I have a wireless keyboard and mouse laying around for if I wanted to use a tablet PC with a keyboard/mouse. Having the HD video playback isn't necessary as I'd say only about 15-205 of the video I have on my desktop is in HD, but it is nice so long as I stay in within my budget.

Some hacking and some money since it only comes with a 4GB SSD. Also the N270 processor is a bit weaker.

I actually did decide to with the Lenovo S10-3t and so far I've been very happy with it. It's played the couple 720p videos I've thrown at it using XBMC. (there was a small amount of lag in VLC/WMP though) I am glad I didn't get a touch screen only tablet pc. Windows 7 works good for tablet PCs, but there are a very few things that keyboard/mouse are suited for. Playing World of Goo with the touch screen is a lot of fun though. :)

As of now I don't think I'll need it, but I did find some hacks for getting the broadcom crystal hd card to work in the second mpci-e slot. I did order a 2GB stick of RAM because it's been just slightly under powered for playing things like HL2 and CS:S. (currently get 10-20 fps) so hopefully that will free up some RAM for running games, integrated video memory, and OS stuff.

I'd personally avoid the Lenovo. The big sticking point for me is that the BIOS contains a white-list of all the authorised pci cards it can accept. That means, if your card isn't accepted it won't work with the Lenovo even though the port is industry standard.

Surely a tablet PC is unsuitable for older PC games that were designed for a mouse and keyboard?

That ExoPC would be nice ( hell I would buy it ) if it didn't have that $600 price tag.... considering it can use the Broadcom Crystal HD card

Would make one badass xbmc tablet that's for sure ( or atleast it seems that way to me )
