I just got my SNES II from USA. It was opened and checked by Pitney Bowes, and im assuming it went through and XRAY, well it arrived and it would not work. I opened it and checked the FUSE, which was dead so I changed that.
I turnt it on and all I got was a crackle in the speaker but no picture. I decided to change the Regulator for good measure and the same thing just a crackle.
I cant think what else. I did notice a long ROW of Capacitors, but they looked ok to me.
Has anyone got any ideas or did I just waste a lot of money as sending back is just not worth it cost wise .

Are you using the correct polarity PSU?

Ntsc units do not have a rectifier like the PAL consoles.

yes I changed the cable from the USA PSU into a UK PSU and before and after checked polarity and Voltage with a multimeter
PSU is working fine showing correct polarity and 10 Volts AC

EDIT: Oh my Gosh im an IDIOT
NTSC is 10v DC not AC

I hope I have not killed it

Fuse will be blown again, but should survive.

I used a POLYFUSE so the fuse would have Reset itself (Good thing to as the SNES II has a surface mounted Fuse and very awkward to change) as its all unplugged and I now religiously toggle the switch every time I remove the cord. Fingers crossed its OK. will need to ind a 10V DC PSU to check it.

Those AC psu are a liability. I once connected an AC psu into my genesis by accident. It has protection diode against AC/reverse but that it still the equivalent of turning it on and off 60 times a second.

I decided to get rid of all my AC bricks, only using DC now.

Liability is being polite to those things. they are just something else.

I managed to solder off the jack from the SNESII going to change it for a normal 2.1mm jack

got the whole board prepared now ready to solder the SuperCIC in the morning.
