Hi, i am right now downloading movies in 1080p/i but they are 20gigs each :O, but look superb:smt023, will i loose alot of quality if i encode them with WMV-HD?, because there is not way to burn a 20gig file into a dvd :smt083
Is there any point to this thread? Why not just play a DVD on your monitor. I seriously doubt you'll notice any difference. Yakumo
Well its kinda annoying having to keep loads of 20gig files on your HD isnt it. Plus you dont want to spread a film over like 2 dual expensive as shit layer dvds and one normal dvd do you...
Really? Do you have a 30 second clip that I can download then to see? I don't want to download a 20Gig file however just a very small clip. Yakumo
check my link, it compares lord of the rings dvd againts hdtv, hdtv version looks alot better, even @ dvd resolution. and for videos you could try www.wmvhd.com, but wmv is compressed, is like seeing a divx and thinking that is dvd quality... it kinda is, but is not:smt096
Well MS site has some 1080i/p clips but they require high resolutions to view them unless you fit them to screen. Dont remember what they look like when fit into a 17". Also it doesnt true 1080i need like a 3ghz pc to view or something? i was reading that the other day on a forum and was very shocked.
wow, DVD looks like an old thing compared to HDTV, if they bring HD-DVD as a new standard, will it be as good as this? Still, the colors looks brightier on dvd. just check the balrog with gandalf and compare. and look at theses guys at the third shot, they just clap and clap and clap their hands! Wo! the party never gonna end! :happyhap: c'mon guys let's clap toghetter!

About time we had some good hi res video.
I have Deadwood episodes in HDTV format and they are nowhere near the sort of size you have, what are they totally raw uncompressed video or something?
those episodes are very much more compressed and go only 45mins at max thats the cause they are so much more little iam right now downloading matrix which is only 11gig =) btw you notice a huge difference with the right equipment i already hate my old 81cm tv when i compare it to my 23"lcd makes much more fun seeing a move in 1920x1080 then in 720x576 pal hdtv isnt as much noticable as when they switched from black/white to color but its a step in the right direction
You prefer one unreleased format in development over a second unreleased format in development? Why not just buy the original movies on DVD, then you wouldn't have to worry about quality OR fitting it on the disc. Or if you're really a stickler for quality, go find the movie on LD, if it was released. And yeah, like Kyuusaku said, 'kawaii' is cute. I've never heard video formats being described like that before...
I'm happy with my mpeg4 recordings. I'd say you should convert them into divx or xvid or some other low loss in quality compression medium there is nowadays
Also, I need to ask - where the hell are you downloading these from? PM me, I gotta see one in action
