    Hi Guys,

It's been quite a while since I've modded the old xbox and am looking for some advice.

I currently have a standard v1.4 xbox and am looking to play only CoinOps on the system.

I've found my old Xodus/Matrix modchip +programmer and wondered if I'd be able to use this to either flash the tsop, or carry out a softmod without having to use a gamesave/game/memorystick/adaptor ?

    Thanks

You are correct once the modchip is installed you can launch burnt xiso so you can run AID or any other Softmod Installers

Thanks for the reply Tommo, that makes things a little easier and faster. I'll also be double checking the Matrix installation guide for the v1.4 box as I'm sure it differs to v1.0 on which I last used it on.

Since you have a Matrix, you can try to do the TSOP recover method which involves soldering D0 and A15 solder points. If you have not too comfortable soldering tiny vias, I suggest you look for an exploit-based solution.

If you want to try the hardware way, you'll potentially save time.
First of all, find the tutorial that explains how to flash TSOP using a Matrix modchip and tsop_d6 BIOS. Follow the entire tutorial as if you had a 1.2 Xbox but instead of flashing tsop_d6 to your modchip, flash the BIOS linked in here. Tsop_m7 BIOS works on 1.4 consoles whereas tsop_d9 doesn't.

The tutorial is essentially the same except for the actual "magic" BIOS you flash onto your Matrix Modchip. Once you have sucessfully booted from tsop_m7 BIOS, I suggest you use HeXen Disc to flash your TSOP with a hacked BIOS. Make sure to have the disc inserted in your DVD drive before attempting to boot tsop_m7 BIOS.

If you don't want to go this way, you can always do the following:
    1- Install modchip
    2-Boot from modchip
3-Install Softmod package on you HDD (either manually or by running a backup copy of an exploitable game with the exploited save game in E:\UDATA)
    4-Remove modchip
    5-Boot Xbox into softmod
6-Flash TSOP using Evox or Gentoox Loader if you have a W49F020 TSOP chip.

In all cases, you need to solder the 2 required points to enable flash write operations on your TSOP! To this before everything else.
