thinking of getting one of these, but dont know too much about them has anyone on here got one? recommend games and pads etc was watching enemy of the state and seen the turboexpress which got me thinking.
I'm sort of in the same boat, I bought one a few months ago for about $30. I swear the controller that came with it doesn't even fit the console, and I have no idea what games to get or anything like that.
$30!!!!! That's a nice deal!!!! I recommend any Bonk games, Splatterhouse, R-Type, Double Dungeons, Keith Courage, Drop Off, and Blazing Lasers. It's more of a single player machine in my opinion than a multiplayer one.
massive help and greatly informative thanks! :very_drunk: i seen a review of blazing lazers a while back which is what originally attracted me to the system
Overall yeah. A few JP versions you'll need a translation guide. There's some American exclusives too, but most of them aren't popular with fans.
It was the first I had ever seen, so I had to spring for it. It needs an alcohol bath and a scrounged up switchbox. As for the controller debacle, here is my problem,
If you love old school shmups, (like me ) it is a must have system. I also recommend a Japanese DUO, they don't go for cheap but you get a great system. I have both the DUO and the American TG-16. My favourite games are : -Star soldier series. (absolutely epic ) -Devils crush and Alien crush ( Best pinball games on earth ) -Bonk games, they are classics with crazy random humor, i like it. Air Zonk is great too -Splatterhouse is good but id rather play that one on my FM-towns -I also have a liking for Nectaris (military madness). Which is strategy war game with schizophrenic music. Now those were all HU-cards games, you get alot more with the CDs Games like -Castlevania: Dracula X Rondo of blood ( OMG YES ) -An excellent port of Gradius II -Gate of thunder ( simply badass ) -Then you have some crazy impossible to find games like Ginga Fukei Densetsu Sapphire, that needed a special card to play and pushed the console to its limits. And well, so many more badass games... [h=1][/h]
Ah right. That part is sensitive. I've seen pics of strange cases like a controller's broken end, lodged into the port.
Ah so it is broken. I'd trust myself to wire up a DIN connector to the controller but for the hassle I think I'll just go for a used one.
i love the old school shmups so you've helped make my mind up with your post, although i dont think my budget will stretch to a Japanese DUO,
I personally really love this system. It has so many overlooked titles, I can't recommend it enough. My favorites are Bonk, Blazing Lasers, YS 1 and 2 (CD game) and Castlevania (CD as well)
Get the regular size PC Engine. Or you could always get a TG16 and an Everdrive. But over all Amercian versions of PC Engine games are inferior.
Out of Either only a Jap PCE or a TG16, The PCE is the better choice indeed. If you consider getting a CD system eventually, the best combination without using any mod, adapters or everdrives and the likes is, Imo, a Japanese Duo + American TG16. There is no region locks on the CD games so your DUO will play any CD games. The USA DUO is much more rare and expensive than the Jap one, also lets you play Jap Hu-cards of course. Then a America TG16 to complete the setup. You can also of course, get a Jap PCE, totally forget about American TG16 and later upgrade to a DUO. If you want to get a regular PCE, maybe Yahoo auction with a Proxy could be better than ebay. I use FromJapan as a proxy buyer, fees are reasonable and it would probably end up less expensive than ebay even with the fees. In any case, you would have more auctions to choose from. http://category.auctions.yahoo.co.j...セサリー&tab_ex=commerce&fr=auc-prop&slider=0&b=1
think i might just start with a euro TG16, i will check out yahoo auctions too although i've never got anything from there before. the system does look pretty awesome
euro tg16 is a collector's novelty, just plays american games. no known pal software development ever occurred.
