hello. despite playing pce games for years on emulators some turbo everdrive were in stock and i took the plunge and ordered one to play pce on real hardware. theres a shop online that i use that has pal turbografx with 50/60hz mod switch at a reasonable price. i was thinking of purchasing this system but then my knowledge of the pce hardware game into question. or should i say lack of knowledge. 1. if i purchase a pal modded console and decide to get a cdrom addon in future will there be out of sync cd audio? i should imagine not while playing with switch set to 60hz but figured i best check with you guys here. 2. what cdrom addon would be compatible with the pal modded system. i know absolutly nothing about the cdrom addons and from browsing a few sites i see there appears to be a lot of variations with this system. the white pcecdrom addon for example don't look like it would fit with the pal turbografx unit. then theres mention of card 2.0 and 3.0 and i got confused as to what i should be buying for best compatibility.any help would be great guys. a simple rundown of whats what and what to buy. i like the look of the pal unit for sale seems to be new boxed and with the region mod it should be great so i'm looking at finding the most reliable and compatible cdrom addon to purchase.cheers.
i had same advice from krikkz forums. only problem is finding somewhere that sells used turbo duos in the uk. i seenone or two on ebay but i cant use ebay anymore since my paypal got hacked and most sellers accept paypal only does anyone know any online stores that stock used turbo duos? also i doubt i would need a region modded system. i heard theres no lockout for the cds and the turbo everdrive card is region free for non cd games. the reason i was looking for a region modded pal turbografx is because dispite there being no cd lockout the ausio would still be out of sync running a ntsc cd unit with a 50hz pal turbografx. i could be wrong thou so if i'm wrong could someone please let me know lol
You can check pcenginefx.com forum, some people might have one to sell ya and could arrainge for payment method other than paypal. Also you're right. There is no region lock for any of the Turbo CD games, only for the card and Everdrive has a switch to change between USA and PCE console. I don't know if there would be a sync issue with 50Hz model and USA CD games. Europe never had official CD game released there so there's no 50Hz version.
turbografx had no pal development. Not one line of program code written for that console is known to exist. Most likely CD music plays the same speed, since no pal cd drives were released either. AFAIK doing otherwise would go against redbook standards.
i mentioned the cd sync issue cos someone mentioned that on a different forum in relation to purchasing a ntsc cdrom addon for a pal turbografx. i'm still in two minds what to buy. after advice here and looking into it the turbo duo looks like the best option all in all. shame these aint as commonly available as sega cd units. also i was looking to get a cheap little bargain with the pal turbografx console. the guy was selling them at a good price but after looking into the cdrom game side of things i best wait and get the turbo duo. shame thou cos i will have a turbo everdrive sitting here and no console to play it on for a while lol.
