I really can't find any tutorial around the web, I see that some guys in french are selling 60 hz pal turbografx so the thing is possible. Found some old discussions about swapping pal crystal with the ntsc one, but nothing definitive.

I'm interested in rgb, not pal/ntsc color encoding.

anyone has experience on it and could help?

PAL is 50mHz, NTSC is 60mHz. If you are interested in RGB, the best way is probably a UK version, the TurboGrafx; as you can tap off the CTX chip directly for RGB. The model is this one:

    Its Hz, not Mhz.

PAL60 (which the op asked for) is 60hz.

However, even in RGB you still have 50hz or 60hz. He wants to use RGB and 60hz for full picture and the correct speed. Using a PAL console will not help him, unless he mods it - which is exactly what he is asking.

Let me know how you get on, looks fairly simple from the pictures in the guide :)

I already have an RGB cable for my PAL Turbgrafx so just need to do the 60hz part!

    yeah, I'll keep update

I bought this console without psu, cables or anything I still don't know if works or not.

I have only jap hu cards and everdrive, I used a master system power supply and soldered an rca plug to video out but with everdrive gives me white screen....

I did the 60hz thing with a broken super famicom xtal (it should fits) and had blurry white screen

now I will go on with the 8 din and rgb mod, I'm waitin to a usa hu card to test things further

From what I've seen online, the TurboGrafx outputs Composite video and RGBS video to its CD drive connector. You could make a custom RGB SCART cable that plugs into those specific pins.

yeah, it should have same pinout of japanese pce ext port, unfortunately tennokoe 2 rgb modded doesn't fit with ntsc/pal units

anyway (hoping that this unit works..) I really want to get rgb from the cxa1145 which this pal turbografx have

I wonder why I get white screen with the everdrive, still can't comprehend if is a everdrive compatibility issue or this unit defective, I will do further testings

I've seen a tutorial on YouTube where a guy made his own TG-16 cables using those pins and I think it was a PAL unit. I can link the video if you want. As for the white screen, have you tried those Japanese games via a region mod? If those games work, even if slower, then we can rule out the system.

Dumb question, but did flip the switch on the everdrive to TG16 mode?

yes, flipped the switch on everdrive, but blank screen

never tried though on a us/pal unit but usually they are 100 per cent error free

now I did also the rgb mod, got blank screen and blurry, something is wrong with the new xtal, I need to wait for a new batch of them, I used the one found in a broken super famicom but seems doesn't work, at least before replacin it I got a solid white screen...

I have also to wait for an american hu card to test further

I'm not gonna region mod it before know if it works or not; I just did a lot of work without understand it..

I'm also using master system/mega drive power supplies, they should fit but volts and amperage is not the perfect same

Be careful because doing things like that can fry the poor TG-16! ALWAYS use a PSU that matches the voltage, amperage, and polarity of the system's original PSU. That might be the root of the problem. Have you tried a power supply that matches the original one?

So it seems it does work. Sorry if I sounded rude, it's just that I've seen people blow fuses and wreck consoles with wrong power cords before so it's an automatic reflex to tell people to use the power supplies that match the rating of the system's original PSU. The Genesis/Mega Drive power supplies actually work with a lot of stuff granted its a model 1 PSU (the 9V MK-1602 and possibly the 10V MK-1602-1).

On the plus side, we ruled out the PSU as the issue. I really want to know what's wrong with it. Do you have a game for the PAL TG-16 or can you get one? If those work then it's the everdrive and not the console.

Again, I apologize if I sounded rude.

my english is not perfect but you didn't sound rude at all!

I'm waitin for an usa hu card that should work with pal turbografx without region modded it, if I'll get white screen again the problem lies in the console.

I'm worried cause I read everywhere that everdrive should work also with pal units

I have to admit that I don't know much about the TG-16. I don't own one because they are really expensive here in the USA. It sometimes can be cheaper to import a PC-E and region mod it. Games are cheaper though.

If the US game works then the everdrive is broken. Have you tried getting RGB from the pins on the expansion port? It would be a great way to test to see if the mod isn't working correctly. If you need it, here is a tutorial on how to make your own TG-16 composite cables (I know it sucks compared to RGB): http://www.cgquarterly.com/articles/tg16_cable.htm

I looked at the pinout for the Expansion port and it seems to output H Sync and V Sync so I guess a VGA mod is possible but would require a lot of work to get it working on VGA monitors because the TG-16 doesn't do. Here is the pinout for the expansion port: http://www.gamesx.com/misctech/pcebp.php

I found this TG-16 Expansion port to RGB/Composite/Stereo Audio adapter on the web and it will be useful when it is released and requires no mods for it to work: http://www.db-elec.com/home/News/dbgrafxboosterttptestedandfullyoperational

that looks like a failed region mod that he put back to PAL, since they had been messing with pin 7 on the CXA1145.
