Tutorial: How to make a Dreamcast game using the Titan IDE.

Here is a tool I've created to make 2d platform games for the Dreamcast and PC. The version 0.2 is available and soon I will add support for Ouya.

Hey guys, after months without an update and with much suffering LoL. a new version is available.

On this version a shumpup template has been added and its totally editable. Now the tool has 3 templates: ShumUp, platform (Sonic), action-platform (Mega Man).

Soon I will add a template for RPG, a more friendly interface and I hope to add support for online games

Not yet, I was working on this template. Going to take a look the n64 emulator again very soon. Thanks bro

 

The initial idea for version 0.4 of Titan IDE was to add a RPG template, but because making it has gotten harder than expected, I decided to release the 0.4 version with a Vertical ShumUp template. In addition to the new template, I’ve replaced the emulator to Demul to avoid some bugs that were reported with NullDC and also updated the version of NotePad ++ that is included in the tool.



For version 0.5 we will finally have the RPG template that is doing well by now and also some updates on the interface. So it wont be necessary to rename the folders to use a specific template anymore. Some friends have also asked me to do some video lessons using the tool, so I ask you to sign up in our channel where the videos will be posted.

Last Saturday 05/05/2018 we attended the 8th Anime Games Festival event where we presented the Titan IDE and some demo of games developed using it. The reaction of the people was very positive, and we were invited to participate in other events in which we will announce very soon. [Post of the night] - The new version of the Titan IDE is online. In fact this is not a new version, but a package of updates fixing several bugs, and bringing some improvements to the old templates. That's why the name Titan IDE 0.4+.

For those who don't know the project, this is a tool that I have been developing in my spare time since 2016. With this you can build a game for the Dreamcast and also for PC(Windows / Linux).

The project is not dead This is a prototype for the RPG template that will come with Titan IDE 0.5! Still a very early prototype, a lot of work need to be done.

 

Seeing the graphics of the RPG template in action, it got me thinking how awesome a isometric survival game would be similar to Don't Starve or The Flame in the Flood.

Very impressive support you are giving this engine. I really look forward to seeing what kinds of projects people come up with!

I know that feeling! I am working on a Battlefield 2 total conversion WW2 mod called Battlefield 1944 recreating the Battlefield 1942 WW2 experience in HD people wanted BF5 to be. I have a lot of setbacks, and took months off at times, but am getting back into the grind and my team is pulling together at the end of the year to try and get our first release out. Total conversions are very time consuming especially on modern era games trying to do historical. So literally everything has to be made from scratch.

Just take your time man, we are all eager to see this project finished! I know for one I am as I might like to develop a Dreamcast game in the future with it since I am working on my 3rd released mod now I feel I got enough valuable experience making new mods.

 

I've uploaded the Titan IDE version 0.5. To celebrate we achieved the version 0.5, I will launch a series of tutorials explaining how to use the tool and how to create your own own games.
