Tutorial: How to use GD Workshop 2.9.0R without a Katana Dev.Box

Hello there,

If you are just curious about GD Workshop (e.g. you want to open CPJ files) but you don't own an Katana Dev.Box (like me, for now at least), you can't use GD Workshop without configuring it. And of course, if you can't setup the tool, GD Workshop closes itself.

This patch is here to allow you to open and use GD Workshop without a Katana Dev.Box. Of course many features (like flashing firmware, switching modes, etc.) won't work because they are Dev.Box related, but browsing CPJ files will work now.

First of all, download the required files here (I also included the file here in attachment):

• The patch itself: here.
• FrogAspi: the official site is dead, so I put it here.
• xdelta3: official site or here.

This patch is for GD Workshop Ver. 2.9.0R, which is the latest included in the Sega Katana SDK R11B.

1. Install the Katana SDK R11B if not already done.
   Locate the GD Workshop folder in the SDK.
2. Copy the gdworkshop-2.9.0r-standalone-patch.xdelta3 and patch.cmd files in that GD Workshop folder.
3. Download FrogAspi and copy the wnaspi32.dll file into the GD Workshop folder.
4. Download xdelta3, rename the xdelta binary in xdelta3.exe and place it into the GD Workshop folder.
5. Run the patch.cmd file.

After that, the GDWorkshop.exe file is patched allowing you to open the tool without the Katana Dev.Box connected and configured!
