"Autosol Metal Polish" is great for removing the white paint and the printed logo from the jewel - there is no need to sand it, just polish the color off with Autosol

Now I'm searching for a way to attach the printed logo to the jewel. My last attemp was a printed decal that was "glued" with clearcoat to the jewel... it looks almost like an original jewel but unfortunately some bubbles have formed while drying (visible at the Nintendo logo and the "R") :-/

    20161025_095314.jpg

(I did not polish the front of the jewel as it was only intended to be a test)

My next try will be with Loca...

if you dont have loca, try a big blob of hot glue in the middle, and then press the jewel onto the logo as hard as you can (hot glue hardens pretty fast)
The bonus with using hot glue is that, if you mess it up, you can easily peel it off, print another logo, and start again.

I did the same with my MadCatz Dreamcast controller (removed the MadCatz logo and replaced with a Dreamcast logo)

This is a quite old topic but I just saw that the supposed U64 logo created here is used almost everywhere on the internet now.
The fact however is, that this GFX is wrong. Here are two pictures of the logo on a real U64.
The 64 is quite wrong in the remade GFX. The color is wrong and also the size and alignment.
Also der seems to be blur around the 64.
The remade logo here is a good start but needs several correction before it can be called close to the original.

It certainly could use a couple of reworks :)
The idea with the project was to make it "open-source" (LoL), that is why I uploaded it in SVG, so someone with better graphical skills than mine could make the ultimate 1x1 version of it.
I have noticed myself, that the svg I uploaded have been used on t-shirts, coffee mugs, pillows and what not.
Wonder who would buy it though? :D

Okay, I just made a overview GFX to show whats wrong.
The current repro GFX is just to big and quite missaligned everywhere.
Also the colors are wrong. I took the avalable pictures of the original and made a mockup (bottom right on the picture)
This alignment comes propably most close to the original. It is hard to say about the colors without seeing HD pictures of the original.
I still hope Kevin will show us the original but for the time being somebody should change the vector GFX according to my mockup. Also I highly believe, that the logo gfx for the N64 front is a bit different (in size, colors and allignment) than the logo used on the cardridge lable.

I investigated the colors a bit more. You had included a nice picture from the EGM on the first page. I didn't knew this one but it gave me a lots of answers. Regarding the color, I don't know the correct purple tone they used there but I am pretty sure, that the logo on the N64 front and propably also on the beta controller uses only 3 colors in total.
There is this purple color, there is a white or gray tone and black.
The color gradient between the purple and the white/gray of the ULTRA letters is just a pattern between those 2 colors.
The same goes for the blur around the 64 part.
The look and intensity of this patern also depends on the DPI. I don't know if they really used 300DPI or more for this. 150 DPI would propably enough for this size and detail grade.
Maybe somebody with print experience can clear this up. But you can count on it, that they reduced the manufacturing costs to a minimum. Therefore they use as less colors as possible on that plastic piece.
The color gradient between the purple and the white/gray of the ULTRA letters on the plastic piece is als much shorter than on the Cartridge label. So the repro GFX is acually the repro of the cartridge lable and not the repro for the plastic piece.
Here is another rough mockup with the gradient and 3 colors. I also was able to confirm the more or less correct allignment and sizes of the logo elements with the EGM picture.

Edit: it is possible that they had 4 colors. Maybe they had white and a grey tone.
With the available material it is just impossible to say since they are all old scans of old mags. The only person I know who could help with that mystery is @Assembler. I hope he reads it and want to help :)

Lining them up I was pretty close with the attempt I posted earlier.
The gradient is a little off tho. What hex is that purple you think?

I need to check. But the GFX I found is the "Paper print" version.
The GFX for the plastic logo must be changed a little. For example the white outline around the 64 is thicker.
The Gradient does not go so deep down. It seems more white on the plastic piece. Also the TM is quite bigger and placed differntly.
Oh also I wanted to ask, are you a member of the pmod.de forum?

I'm not sure the best way to approach this. Because it's a print scan, the colour selection is affected by the granularity. I've done some example selections here from the top to bottom of the U, I selected 10x10 pixel regions and blurred them to generate a somewhat uniform colour (although realised after the fact they're still not entirely uniform colour regions). I've shown hex colours from representative pixels within these fields on the right.

Ok, take 2. This time I first white balanced the image as I realised the highlights and ring all seemed a bit grey. Next I reduced the image resolution to 64x64 (haha) just to simplify the vertical component to the L in ULTRA because it showed the clearest color gradation. I've then extracted the hex value from each pixel to the cell on the right.

Okay guys, I think I found the solution for our information problem.
Thanks to our friend Krisse and the other Guys from PlanetVB we have this:

This is the Nintendo Annual Report 1995 with Ultra 64. The Photos there are high quality and so are the scans. With that we can come very close to the correct colors and also see all details of the actual print logo aswell as the actual plastic piece logo. This was always in front of our faces :D
But please note, that the picture here is also photoshopped. the size is different. I think the squshed it a bit for the picture.

This is the Logo Variant for the plastic piece.
I think this is the best we can get except if somebody owns a real U64 and gives us some very good Photos.

Great work! I will try to see if I can recreate it with the gradient tool.

    High quality on that one.
However since I think this is a modified Cartridge "Ultra 64" label, photoshopped onto the console it self.
I will try to line them up properly with the existing SVG I made earlier, see if I can get it right.
It will be great to check the colors too, however the scan and image, is problably off a bit.

    * I am not member of pmod.de, my german is not very good :D
Is there a reason you ask?

It is. The real plastic front logo can be seen in the other post I made.
Obviously the real one was not pretty enough for such an closeup shot.
If you observe the picture of the real one closely, you can see that the logo is mostly white and the gradient is much shorter.
Also the outline for the 64 part is thicker but could be still blurred. Also the TM is bigger.
So my theory from earlier seems to be right. The plastic logo has less colors. Propably just 3.
In order to recreate the plastic piece as close as possible, we need to know how such objects are usually printed.
If we know the print technique, we know how to recreate the gfx.

I ask for the forum because It was about the pictures of the recreated logo. But they are from the user DS2 so nerver mind ^^

The logo on that HighQuality scan (200DPI) is squeezed.
Also according to thhis scan, the ULTRA Part and the 64 have a small bevel around.
The lineup should be made with that reference:
