Ok guys. I today had a realization. I have been skinning my emulators for my Xbox over the last couple months. I always made the images 640x480 like I should. Well in game on my TV the images always have like a inch and half cut off around all sides. I thought it was a problem with the emulators coding or the xbox or something but I hooked up the box to a PS1 LCD I got at the thirft mart and all the images appear fine like they should without chopping off the boarder! This tells me my TV is in need of adjustment, I think overscan is what its called? I have never noticed numbers or anything missing from games? Whats the deal anyone know? Please chime in if you have a idea as this really bugs me. I had been adjusting all my images to so I could see everything on my TV but now if I get a new one it will look retarded >_<
I think most Xbox emulator apps have an option to change the size and shape of the screen. Check for it in the Options menu.
I have tryed on all of them and I cant get it to work. I have a hunch it may be a problem with Xports Emulator coding. I am using SneXbox which IS NOT by Xport so I will try my images on that emulator. If it still happens its the TV/Xbox If the image appears ok then its Xports emulators that are doing it. But I still dont understand why it would appear just fine on the PS1 LCD but not on my TV set?
If it happens with everything, your TV is fucked, if it only happens with the Xbox, is a Xbox fault, if it happens with the Xbox dashboard, is a general Xbox problem, if it happens with an emulator is a an emulator problem. You only have to go around trying.
It's not a problem. Most CRT's overscan slightly just to avoid leaving part of the screen unfilled - or at least I think that's why they do it. In any case, games and TV shows are usually formatted in such a way to compensate for this, so you aren't missing anything or if you are, you aren't missing much. If you're annoyed by the way it screws up your JPEG's, then just format them differently.
