Well yesterday I bought a new tv for my game room. Well what they had playing on it at goodwill and when I was playing a couple NES games it seemed alright (but I had to mess with a lot of settings to get that even to look alright). Well I decided to try out Mega Man X2 on it. Started up the intro stage and something just didn't seem right. I loaded it up on an emulator and sure enough there is quite the difference.

How it is (X wasn't really as blue as the picture suggests, but one of the brightest things on screen):

    How it should be:

Something just doesn't seem right on here. Especially with the color of the ground and the red blob of a door. Not to mention this is having the tv at the brightest and highest picture setting. Anyone have any possible solutions to this?

Also if it helps the model is a JVC AV-27D203. This is just the perfect type of tv for my room and it'd be awesome if it could work properly.

Was actually using S-video when I took that picture. I've tried different cables with composite and RF and it looks the same.

Edit- I just tried out my x'eye as well and it makes brown objects really red and things are pretty dark too.

Turn "color" way down, turn down brightness until black is black, maybe mess with hue a little, done.

When I took the picture the color setting was just below 50% and if I go below around 30% it's all black/white. Then lowering brightness even a little bit just makes main colors such as red, blue and green disck out while everything else becomes black. I tried adjusting settings to get the foreground rock in the correct screenshot to match my tv and I got close (it was still a darker brown), but then the background is pitch black and this is with highest brightness.

Double post, but found out the problem on another forum. There was a screw in a very small hole for adjusting the screen brightness, and now the tv picture looks exactly like it should. Glad I didn't have to take this back or replace any hardware since it's such a nice TV. Thanks for the suggestions though! :)

That is true but it is a significant upgrade from my 19" that only had an rf connector on it. At least with this tv I can use component for the PS2 that I'm going to get for the room.
