I had bought a Twin Famicom off of ebay a month or so ago. I had been waiting for a disk card game to come in for over a month from Japan. Today I hooked up the system, flipped the switch to the disk side, inserted the game. The system says loading but all I hear is a buzzing noise and the game never loads. Could the belt need to be changed?

    The cartridge games work fine.

    Any help would be appreciated.

The belt could be the issue. I'd say try replacing it and see what happens. Is the buzzing noise coming from the TV or the system itself?

The buzzing noise would appear to be coming from inside the system, only when a disk is inserted.

Then it could be that the belt has gone bad and the noise could be coming from the gears or something in there moving without a good belt.

Just ordered a new belt, will disassemble the system once the part is received but I bought this system pretty much figuring the belt would need replacing considering the seller sounded pretty clueless and most likely only used the system for cartridges.

I will report my progress once I get to the repair. Hopefully I will be playing some Link No Bouken before long.

Glad to hear! Can you take some pics of the repair? Hopefully the belt hasn't melted or decayed and it is just simply worn out.

I thought about getting a twin Famicom with turbo buttons so I would like to know how to replace a belt that breaks after 4-6 years.

I actually have Zelda II on the Wii U virtual console (sadly it has no expansion audio like the FDS version) but I'm having a hard time figuring out where to go and what to do so I don't play it much.

Replaced the belt, at first got an error 21, tried cleaning the head no change. Noticed the belt was twisted so I untwisted the belt and put it back together. Unfortunately now the drive doesn't power up or move at all. The system just says Loading and nothing ever happens. Could I have broken something? Is there a common thing that would make this happen, some plug not connected? Any help would be appreciated.

Are the disks clean? They get dirty or damaged quite easily since most of them lack the standard floppy disk protecting metal sliding thingy.

If the disks were not clean it wouldn't cause the disk drive to not power on or spin the disk at all.

You need to make sure that the motor head and the wheel where the belt goes is absolutely clean. If it isn't the belt will slip off and the motor won't be able to spin the disk. You also need to align the head after replacing the belt.

I have the alignment as I had it the first time. Before untwisting the belt the head would move back and forth on the disc but not it does nothing at all.

I have made sure the belt moves freely but nothing seems to happen anymore. The screen just freezes at Loading.
