Two sisters abandoned at nursery school for two years, Kitakyushu govt. discovers

KITAKYUSHU -- Two young sisters have been forced to live at a nursery school here for two years after their parents never came to take them back, local government officials have found.

The Kitakyushu Municipal Government has managed to track down their parents and are consulting with them over the future of the children. The local government has temporarily placed the children under care at a public facility in accordance with the Child Welfare Law.

Their mother apologized for failing to care for them. "I'm sorry for my children. But I couldn't care for them due to money and health problems," she was quoted as telling local government officials.

The school failed to report the case to the government as required by law, which requires nursery schools to notify the government if any child stays there for five consecutive days or longer. "We knew the guidelines, but didn't report the case because we thought that their parents would take them back sooner or later," the principal said.

The sisters, aged 5 and 4, began to attend the nursery school in Kokurakita-ku, Kitakyushu, sometime around the spring of 2005, according to city officials. Initially, their mother brought them to and from school. However, she went missing in the autumn of that year, forcing the sisters to live at the facility. Their father, who had visited the nursery school on a few occasions, also lost contact. Their parents have failed to pay tuition fees to the school since they disappeared.

The local government found out about the case after they inspected the school in response to a tip. (Mainichi)

I had a few WTF moments while reading this article which include but is not limited to...

    1. Why are the police "consulting" with the parent instead of "arresting" them.
    2. The nursery though they would take them back sooner or later? After two fucking years! At what point do they figure they're not coming back? When they Graduate? And if they were to come back say four years you would just hand them over?
    3. How the hell can the father the balls to show up to visit after abandoning his kids.

    4. What link does your thread title have with this? H is synonymous with perverse actions but sexual rather than irrational.

Anyway, yeah, strange stuff. Like I always say, when the shit hits the fan in Japan it's always to a much higher degree than the run of the mill stuff we get in the West. We may have 100's of kids in care due to the same situations but we sure don't have a Nursery that would become a surrogate mother/father for two years.

In fact, the guidlines at 5 days are a little long, I'm sure a kid would be handed over to the Council after a matter of hours here.

Shit, I go past Kita Kokura EVERY DAY ! It's 99% possible that the parents are what are called "Yankees" Basically low life arse holes ! There's far too many of them in Kokura. They all wear over sized clothes, talk like shit (Bad education), have stupid mullet hair styles that went out of fashion in the mid 80's and worst of all look so dumb yet believe they are intelligent.

The is just a guess, but I think in this case it's either an option or an error on the boards where regular members cannot completely edit the titles of their threads.

*Notes the 'What the hell are wrong with these people?' title when the thread is opened*

It really needs to be fixed.

Was just being a little picky about the title, I thought users could change titles of their own threads.

Anywho.... Yankees.... seen enough of those, most I ever saw were in the suburbs around Sapporo I think? I'd not seen shell suits of the like since Salt n Pepa were Top of the Pops!!

    I'm not joking.

Yeah, I know that. In fact it's a good idea. Maybe the child can get a chance in life unlike if they stay with their arse hole parents.

I was sure you were joking before you stated otherwise. At least seeing how regular the rubbish collection is done no kids should starve in such a box.

The twins! I'd have taken them to my fun house any day of the week!

The box is a bit of a metaphor. I don't know exactly how it works but it is anonymous. It's a church that handles it...not a state run facility.

If I remember right , then it is not a "post drop box", but a door which can turn 180 degrees, and a silent alarm will go off, and tell one of the people who takes the baby that a child is in the drop off area. And this thing happens in Germany, but not in Denmark yet. Even though it would probably help people here too, instead of honour killings, which we have had quite a few of, in the years back. Since some months ago, there people found a dead baby in a creek on the island Funen (Fyn in Danish). And some months before that, there were a baby found (alive) in a bush here up in northern zeeland (Nordsjælland in Danish), and well he is alive, and the mother isn´t found...

In USA it is illegal to abandon your child, but afaik, in my state you can 'abandon' it, but only over at local fire stations or hospitals. Anywhere else they will track the parent and arrest them.
