That's right ! Two brand new Beets of Rage mods have been released which both make good use of the new engine allowing for pick up weapons, alpha channels, scaling and sprite distortion.

The two new mods are much like 2 brand new beat'em ups more than mods ! The first is a Battle Toads / Comix Zone mix featuring some very impressive results, especially in the COMIX mode ! The game also features 4 variations making it more of a 4 games in 1.

    Check out these shots.

    The NTSC Version - http://www.dcevolution.net/dsdevelopment/large/BoR/BattleToads_NTSC.rar

Next up is the Final Fight Last Round Special edition. This release lets you play Final fight 1 (with 4 soundtrack variations), final Fight 2, Final Fight 3, Final Fight 3 remix and a Spartan X game (must complete the game to unlock it. The pack is also PAL 50htz and NTSC 60 htz selectable. Not only that but there are 3 play modes to choose from ! Head on over to DC Evolution to find out more - http://www.dcevolution.net/goto.php?id=72

Looks excellent. I was especially impressed by the Final Fight and Alien Vs Predator mods. A very talented bunch there.

The Comix Zone one plays on a single plain just like Ninja Warriors and probably the original Comix Zone (never played it). Another nice effect are the WHAM ! SMASH ! OOF! that apears when you smack someone  THi smakes it seem nothing at all like Beat's Of Rage.

No need to remake that since there's been a mame pack for it for a few years now. Runs very well from what I remember.

Oh man, time to replug my dreamcast -again!

I'm a big fan of comix zone. Can you choose paths and does it use the bd context for events and puzzles?

You should really check that game Yak, its hard but it may be one of the best, most interesting and orignal Beat 'em up i've ever seen. Yeah, that thing compares to strreet of Rage- what do i say, it surpasses it with the genius gameplay.

On the Dreamcast? I thought it could only emulate 8Bit consoles at full speed. What is the Mega Drive emulation like these days?

Dreamcast can emulate Neo Geo & CD very well indeed with many and I mean many games running perfectly with other close to perfect. Mega Drive emulation is also very good apart from the sound. That is pretty weak. That emulator however is an official Sega one so downloading it is a big no no. Someone hacked the version hidden in the Japanese Dream Passport 3 with a load of roms. I want a perfect SFC emulator though but I doubt I'll ever see it. Oh, and many PSX games work fine too. Head on over to dcevolution to find out more on the DC emulation scene.

You cannot emulate those big NeoGeo games such as Metal Slug And KOF though.

If it's Reapers SGA pack or Reapers Neo-Geo anything it's not worth it. He's essentially the Hitler to the dc scene.

You want to bet? What do you think I run all the Neo Geo stuff on when I make Retro Core  There is a special way that the emulator makers found out that loads part of the rom in to memory when needed. I won't go in to detail but if you want to find out just head on over to http://chui.dcemu.co.uk/index.html The Neo CD Emulator loads just like a Neo CD, thankfully much faster though. I play Metal Slug 2 on my Dreamcast all the time.

NO, I don't think these are. It's been a few years since I put it on. If I find time I'll put it on again to check it out.

How do i use the SBI thing and all? I know we should speak too much about it here, but i'd really like to play mgs with some help :(

go to http://dchelp.net/index.php?id=apps for all the help you'll ever need about using SBI boot files. There's actually a SBI site that has all the emulators ready to burn as SBI files but I forgot the URL :( It may or probably is on the link above though. For the AES games, every game that works on GnGeo should also run perfectly on the Dreamcast. The ROMS need to be slightly modified to allow the code to be fed to the emulator in chunks that the system can accept. This is how they can make stuff like Metal Slug 4 run.

I think here's what you are talking about:

    http://dchelp.net/cgi-bin/sbi/browse/browse.cgi?browse&Emus

But i still don't understand where you need to put the roms and Bios. Do you need to make an image? how you burn it?

for a short time sega of japan has a service where you could purchase and play sega genesis and pc engine games for play on dreamcast. This idea was short lived and never was adopted by any other region.

The Neo CD games have to be burned to their own disc. As for the AES stuff, I don't know because I haven't tried that one yet. To burn the emulator just download the image then burn it using disc juggler. If you want I'll do you an image of the Neo CD EMU in either disc Juggler or Nero format. All you have to do then is burn the image file using the appropriate software.

    Yakumo

PS: have you burned any applications for the DC before?

It was. I'm pretty sure the emulator was taken from the Smash Pack though, it'd probably have been easier than figuring out how the Dream Passport worked.

I'm surprised the PC Engine emulator never surfaced, though.

I did, but it was long time ago. I'm actually more interested in the AES stuff than the Neo CD because of the loading times and variety. I'm searching for a site where it says the procedure to follow, where do you put the roms and bios now, but i haven't found anything helpful yet.
