was just going to post about this, got an email from ubisoft there with a password reset link. this is going to happen alot, in the future, unless maybe they go into using biometric devices
You know, there's this Android-based console that won't even work without giving it a credit card number...the name escapes me, but it's made by this company that has an inept tech support that browses Redtube at work...anyway, this incident doesn't really make me trust that company too much.
Was the attack purely made for the thrill of it or is there any noble act of protest related to this security breach?
Mine was marked as spam by Gmail- was it a legitimate link? I trashed it, and honestly I don't have any important information on Uplay- I buy all my games through steam and with Paypal, which normally has a low balance.
i got stung via paypal once, somehow someone hacked it and used it for runescape. i was highly offended, they could at least have used it for something good. seems legit but i dunno
Got this mail too. I thought it was a bull shit mail so I came here to make a post about it. Seems it's legit. they also say you should reset any other password on other sites that use the same one as the UBISOFT site. What a fucking mess. Better head on over and change my password fast.
Well great. Just tried to change my password yet no matter how fast I do it I keep getting an error time out message.
FYI to those changing passwords- XKCD #936 has a great way to have the most secure passwords. I saw the comic a couple of years ago and have had all my passwords done this way. https://xkcd.com/936/
They announced that Hackers did not had access to credit card information. Only email,name and crypted password. I bet 500$ that it was a simple SQLi.
Hmm, I also got the same email. I guess Ubisoft should be more secure in future then. I should definitely invest in terminating my account!
oh brilliant well i have change my password as it said in my email. i thought it was fishy at first. look like i cant use uplay on far cry 3 for now. gutted ! why hackers have to ruin everything
That just helps against guessing and password cracking. It doesn't do any good with the hacks like this when they get the password hashes.
