Now im not normally one for forwarding stuff like this but if this comes into action my car tax bill will rocket.

    ROAD TAX

For all you drivers out there.
    Get your signatures on ASAP.
Sign and pass it on. It only takes a few seconds.

The government's proposal to introduce road pricing will mean you having to purchase a tracking device for your car and paying a monthly
Bill to use it. The tracking device will cost about £200 and in a recent study by the BBC, the lowest monthly bill was £28 for a rural
florist and £194 for a delivery driver. A non-working Mum who used the car to take the kids to school paid £86 in one month.

On top of this massive increase in tax, you will be tracked. Somebody will know where you are at all times. They will also know how fast you have been going, so even if you accidentally creep over a speed limit you can expect a NIP with your monthly bill.

If you care about our freedoms and stopping the constant bashing of the car driver, please sign the petition on No 10's new website.

    http://petitions.pm.gov.uk/traveltax/

Please pass this on to anyone who owns a car/motorcycle. It affects them. We need to get as many signatures as we can on this – and
Then we learn if it changes anything.

If this is true it is just plain wrong. Although wouldn't an older early 70's car circumvent the system since they have no computers to tie into?

I think the way they want to do it is with a GPS unit (not too sure) so as long as there is a battery they can track it.

    obviously, the answer is no.
all the tracking device needs is power from your cars battery.

Look, the UK Government has spent billions on trying to ensure that all of the health, security & financing computers link to one another. The companies involved have screwed up and nothing actually works despite it being over budget, over funded and about as efficient as treacle!

The likelihood that the shower of incompetent wa*ks can actually get 2 toy cars tracked efficiently for more than 5mins is unlikely considering the millions of cars currently on Britains roads.

It's not just Orwellian, it is bloody laughable and extremelly unlikely to work!

A taxi in Wales was caught speeding at 420mph! The Police issued the ticket and the driver claimed he had not been driving at that speed. This is the level of accuracy we can expect from other systems trying to track every movement.

Stick a car onto the back of a trailer and transport it 300 miles to renovate it, does that car still get a bill? Is it purely when the ignition is applied? If so, how long before someone just circumvents the ignition switch and has a counter measure.

It is unworkable and sh*t and only the UK government who clearly know jack sh*t about computers would think it was feasible!

A second point being, why is it that I am being asked to switch everything off, buy AA equipment and reduce my carbon footprint when this f*cking shower are INCREASING their carbon footprint with p*sh like this?

Sign the petition if you must, but just watch this piece of legislation die anyway.

They probably measured Richard Hammond on his trial run before the accident:lol:. Bloody luck guy he is. Saw the interview on Jonathon Ross tonight. Looked as if nothing had ever happened to him.

You do know that they only set up the petition to determine which of you need to be part of the "beta" test period...

In fact it was ment to be Slow driving it but he chickened out of it so hamster steped in... A fact Clarkson wont let slow forget I think.

Yeah, this is disgraceful. It won't improve the roads, either, we know that.

Oh yeah, new series of Top Gear was good, although I missed half, had to record it! Talking of which, they were trying to do a week's road repair in a day! Haven't seen the end result yet!

I caught the show yesterday (thank you BT) and have to say it was a good start to the new year. I wish they showed it in the USA, but I doubt it is MTV enough for these guys.
