First of all its not my method, its a method used by professionals.

Second, its not just good, its the best solution.

And last point: With proper heat dissipation and assembly the PS3 motherboard does not get bend. BTW, this is the first time that I've heard this.

The GPU gets detached because of the heat and the poor quality material (solder and thermal paste) not because of any bending.

10 60gb PS3's got resurrected with this method and they all work to this day. Why? Because of the lead solder used.

Tip: A good indication that your PS3 has no problem is if the fan is silent and hot air is being blown out at the back of the unit.

If the fan starts going crazy it means that either the thermal paste has dried out (between the IHS and the GPU, or the IHS and the CPU, or the IHS and the heatspreader) or your GPU is about to pop-off.

I known a guy that makes his living from repairing PS3's and XBOX 360's that have either YLOD or RROD so I know what I am talking about.

Off topic: 360's are more sensitive to reballing. You may reball a 360 machine and then all of a sudden have a problem again after 6 months. Why? Because the 360's are more sensitive to alignment when reballing. They need to be 100% in place. PS3's are not so sensitive in this matter.

I'm not going to argue with you about this, I fully aware I understanding of your point and I agreed with you.

The Method you wrote is best and my method is best too and done it myself at home and fixed four friends of mine who has YLOD PS3 and still work to this day.

I have done so many research about this since my First YLOD and I learnt a lot of it. I'm surprise that you didn't know that Motherboard can bend, (only bend a little when it get hot but when it cools down it go back to normal)

Let me tell you my story - with my YLOD experience

    1. I got my first 60GB PS3 in 2006 until 2007 when it YLOD. I sent it away for professional to re-ball it. Then my PS3 last for another 11 months until hit YLOD again

    2. My cousin gave me his YLOD PS3 60GB since he bought new 80GB PS3. I was doing research about fixing YLOD with Heatgun and High thermal paste at home. So I did and it fixed my YLOD for my second 60GB PS3 but it doesn't last for three months until YLOD. so Re-balling by professional is better at this point.

    3. So I went more advance research in forums about fixing YLOD permanently and founding out that 4x spring washer and black Pad was the key to prevent form YLOD again.

    4. So I bought all the I stuff I need

    Heat gun

    4x spring washer

    Two black pad

    High quality thermal paste

and it fixed my two 60GB PS3 and I gave mine other 60GB PS3 to my friend. Both 60GB PS3 still work to this day in Year 2013 after YLOD in 2007 !

    5. I own a PS3 TEST console (developer console) in 2008. once I bought it, before I using it, I immediately add only 4x spring washer and Two black pad in the PS3 TEST console, I didn't add High quality paste (which I should have done) Neverless Thermal paste wasn't dried up ! It still works flawlessly in 2013 since I used it so much for review PS3 proto/ beta/ alpha games on it.

    6. I told my friend about this, he went out and got a brand new 120GB PS3 (fat model) after his PS3 got stolen. I add 4x spring washer and Two black pad in his new 120GB PS3, and yet it still work in early 2012 which the last time I heard. I'm pretty sure it still work to this day.

    7. I have fixed my four friends PS3 who has suffer YLOD in the past at home.

    all I did is add

    4x spring washer
    Two black pad
    High quality thermal paste
    and a heat gun.

All my four friends PS3 still work to this day, my two friends PS3 still works in 2013 and no sign of YLOD and my other friend sold his PS3 in 2012 and yet no complain about YLOD either and my other friend has blu-ray problem now but yet no YLOD.
Also I told my friends to clean their PS3 once a month.

My method is works perfect too, I'm not againsting your point Daytime Dreamer. I'm just saying. I stick to my own method that I trust and you stick to your method what you know of.

There's a waiting period to sell to prevent post spamming.

You'd need to wait until March to sell.

I will allow this one post, but you need a certain amount of time as a member to be able to sell.
