This seems like a very interesting show but i've missed the one that was shown on saturday. I wonder how they actually do in real life compared to in the game since i've seen how clarckson did when he made a comparison for top gear. This seems really different as clarckson just played the game in a specific car and track then tried to see if he could do it in real life where as this seems like they are doing alot more than just trying to do what clarckson did. Anyone interested in watching it can see it on Dave and the link to the website about it ias here http://dave.uktv.co.uk/shows/motoring/gt-academy/
Very interesting - I had no idea they turned this event into a TV series. More info on the event here. The winner did indeed compete in and complete the 24 Hours of Dubai. Kazunori Yamauchi said it was a dream come true that his game helped to develop a real race driver.
If only Clarkson had use a Driving Force Pro wheel rather then a joypad and had shown all the assists turned off, then it would have been a fair comparison, GT with an joypad is unrealistic due to the ultra quick turns.
Saw it on the frontpage of GTplanet.net I already drove some cars on trackdays, but again nothing like an academy. I remember that some years ago, on ESPN Brasil, they showed a driving course that's avaiable at Barcelona Circuit. You start driving small cars, then move to a F-3, and finish the course driving a F1. At that time, they had the Benetton that Michael Schumacher won a F1 title, and some other F1 cars like a Minardi and a Pacific. It's probably a very cool course.
Would be good to actually drive a car in GT with a G25 or whatever is currently the best wheel and then in real life becuase its easy for someone to test the theory out and say its realistic but to actually try yourself would be good.
