Now that I am fully registered with UK's Central Station and the USA PS2 internet service I can play both UK online games and USA online games. The TEST PS2's pass all DNAS security checks because they have no mod chip - how cool is that!! I have downloaded new camouflages for my USA version MGS3 and I am just installing USA FFXI on to my HDD. I didn't think I'd ever be able to play FFXI in the UK on my PS2 but it justgoes to show that TEST PS2's rock! Is there anything they can't do!!
It can be done with early japanese utility disc - you just need to install the drivers on the memory card. I'm pretty sure that they play DVD's just like the old SCPH-10000's from Japan. Remember - they needed a memory card with the downloaded drivers to play a DVD.
Wouldn't the driver discs that come with the remote controls work on it too? AFAIK they install new DVD drivers on the memory cards too.
no one dvdplayer work on any test ps2, even you useing TOP LEVEL VER. TEST ps2. i tested 1.0,1.01,2.0,2.04,3.0,3.01 NO ONE can install on any TEST PS2,
Yep - ALL utility discs work on TEST PS2's with model numbers DTL-H30100 (JAP version), DTL-H30101 (USA version) and DTL-H30102 (European version). Mine is the DTL-H30101 and I have not found a single disc yet that won't work on it. Excuse my ignorance but what does "AFAIK" mean.....?? I don't think installing the DVD drivers from the remote will work because in UK and USA the only consoles released started in the SCPH-30000 series onwards. Since then DVD's will play without the user having a memory card installed in the memory card slot 1. The SCPH 10000, 15000 and 18000 had to have a memory card installed in the slot with the DVD software contained on them. This software was obtained from the Japanese utility discs sold with the consoles. The updates you refer to that are sold with the remote controls are purely updates and I don't think they will contain all the DVD software information TEST Ps2's need. If you use an original Japanese utility disc (v 1.00) and install the full DVD software onto your memory card and plug it into mem card slot 1 and try to play a DVD I'm sure it will work. Have you noticed that the TEST PS2's say "cannot start DVD player software" when you try to play a DVD video? I think this is because it cannot find the software installed on your memory card. Anyway - I may be wrong but I have bought a version 1.00 utility disc from a contact in Japan. As soon as it arrives I will try it out and see if I can play a DVD video on the TEST PS2....... Whether it works or not, I will post my findings on the forum, but I think it's worth a go..........
Oh Hi_Ricky has already tried it................oh well! :-( How come Assembler says he has got DVD's working on his TEST PS2 then.......?
HI-Ricky - what about DVD version 3.04 does that one work.....? I guess it probably doesn't!! Does anyone actually think there is a way you can watch DVD's on TEST PS2's?? Because the console does recognise a DVD movie in the browser screen doesn't it.
you can play DVD VIDEO DEMO on DVD Player util disc. but, you can not install it..(like 20% will hang up) i try use SCPH-10000 install any dvdplayer ver and plug on TEST PS2 DTL-H10000,DTL-H3000,DTL-H30102,DTL-30101......no one can play dvd
