Something happened in my personal life that has made me go through a slump. Someone in my life is now gone and it's taken a tole on me. No, it's not a girl issue. This person is way more important that any female will ever be. My father recently got diploid to the middle east and has finally left the states. It's hit me REALLY hard and I have lost ambition to do anything but work. So, I guess my loss is your gain at this moment.

Hey, I am sorry to hear that you have taken your father's deployment to the middle east so hard. Before selling your consoles (although far less important than your family) reconsider! Before anyone takes advantage of the situation have a few days to think about it.

I actually lost my father last year. He passed away after suffering from cancer. It is an entirely different thing, but in a way I can appreciate what you are going through as the initial shock was actually much deeper than words can describe.

Ultimately however you have to keep going and I don't think your father would want you to slump or just give up. Go speak to someone about it, someone you can trust. If at the end of that you are still feeling so negative about your life then I recommend seeking professional counselling.

I realise this is off topic, but I think you'll regret your hasty actions. Only my opinion, but you have to keep going man!

I've made my choice. I wish to get rid of these. Plus, they're just material things that can be replaced once again. The deal is there if anyone wishes to get it.

So your father has been deployed, right? HE is not deceased? If not that is good. Lets pray he comes back home safely. Good luck with your sale.

That is correct. He's still alive, but is gone.

I hate to turn on the news every morning to see all the fatalities across the sea.

It saddens me knowing he will be there amongst all that.

All I can do at the moment is hope.

My Dad has been over there for the better part of two years at this point. While he has been there for his company and not the military (he's retired from the Navy), he has been working with the military. From what he has told me, it actually isn't nearly as bad as they make it seem on the news reports. Of course, some areas are worse than others, but for the most part it is fairly safe. More Americans actually die from car accidents than anything else apparently as the roads outside of Bahgdad are quite bad. Just try not to concentrate on the scary part, try to stay positive.

Toubabokoomi, I know how it is, my own father was away in Iraq for nine months in 2003, right when all the heaviest fighting was going on. It is kinda scary, as I was growing up occasionally he'd get deployed everytime something would happen in the world (he was in Grenada, the Balkans, and Gulf war I as well.) Thankfully nowadays he's of a higher rank so he wasn't digging out landminds with a pair of chopsticks or anything.

You just gotta hang in there, hope and pray, write letters, and all that stuff. Honestly really that's all you can do, just trust in his ability and training to stay alive and come back in one peace, and don't ask him about it too much when he comes back. Plus send him stuff that he can't get over there, magazines, cigars, etc. whatever he's into.
