Most of us are gamers and usually also game collectors. But what's your most wanted collection, that isn't mainstream (like getting Earthbound or something similiar)? For me it's my Star Wars collection http://www.assemblergames.com/forum...small-but-always-growing-Star-Wars-collection I also think that collecting modchips would be a really unique and interesting collection and I will start doing that soon. Not really game related but I collect cassette tapes of heavy metal bands from the 90s. But also I have a bit of an obsession with the Panzer Dragoon series. Not a terrific collection at the moment but it's coming along nicely, with 3 out of 4 games and 3 soundtracks.
Yeah, Japan got completely different (and in my opinion better) art than the US for all the Saturn Panzer Dragoon games. Does wanting a complete US Dreamcast collection seem unique? Also I take pride in having all the EA Sports NHL games from 93-12 (cheapest collection ever).
Actually about a year ago, I also wanted to start a hockey game collection, but I got distracted and never got back to it.
I collect hockey games from any console. I've got a few. http://www.assemblergames.com/forums/showthread.php?53608-Tripredacus-weird-game-collection
This guy collected all the official Saturn USB controllers: https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=GVARQgg8CGs
It's actually pretty easy, since both the game stores I go to put the sports games in bargain bins. Other than Mutant League Hockey, I'm still looking for that one.
nothing too crazy, i've been working on getting all of the original xbox exclusive games. My unofficial list has 200 games so far, only need 10 more...mostly turds. Started with the wikipedia list of xbox games and added/subtracted a few from there since its not 100% accurate.
I don't actively pursue this sub-collection, but for certain games that are very iconic of Western video games I like to buy the Japanese version. It just feels so odd to see a familiar title as a Japanese product when most of the time, it is (was) the other way around and Japanese games would be localized. The collection increased only very little since I took these pictures, but you get the idea. My favourites are the ones written in big fat katakana (like Burnout 3) and when they made up a completely different title (Seireki 1999/西暦1999 is Powerslave/Exhumed on the Saturn).
This would really be more appropriate in the collection forum. Anyway, there are a few series that I sort of collect for. It's not like I intentionally collect them, it's more like I enjoy them so much that I end up buying a lot of them. I have most of the console Virtua Fighter games, as well as the VF3 arcade board. I have almost all of the Dead or Alive games. I have 4 copies of Wave Race 64 for some reason - 2 copies that are the standard US release, one boxed copy of the original Japanese release, and one copy of the Japanese Rumble Support version (which is the version I play most of the time). I also collect arcade systems - just the systems, not full cabs. I currently have 3: a Model 3 (the VF3 system I mentioned earlier), an MVS, and an ST-V. The Model 3 and ST-V only have one game each (though the ST-V can use other carts, and the Model 3 is compatible with at least one other game), and I have 3 MVS games. The point is, I collect a lot of stuff, so I won't try to list everything. I have a Japanese Saturn copy of EWJ2 as well, just like the one in that picture - except mine doesn't have the spine card. It's too bad that game is total shit. They took a great game and tried to "improve" it, but instead turned it into a terrible game.
I love how the NA/Euro version of Need for Speed Underground has the same car, with a much more subdued paint job, but that Japanese one literally looks like something out of Tokyo Drift.
