That cable is the one zer0-2k11 got me for an extra dollar. I will move it though to the cd drive or the underside of the psu.

I put mine on the underside of the PSU.

You should take a multimeter and verify that the chip is getting proper 5v.

dude then thats your problem...... you NEED 5V. check the power rail again while on and verify the PSU has 5 volts on the 2nd pin

I've got the same model drive here and a Phantom due to be installed, I can do it after lunch (~2 hours) if you can hang tight? That would at least rule out the model of drive being an issue with the Phantom and either a defect with your modchip or cable even, maybe!

Alright, that's my first Phantom Universal installation and I have to say compared to other modchips... damn good work @Bad_Ad84 and @Zer0-2k11 and @Druid II - it's a wonder to work with!

Bad news for you though Austin, looks like something must be off on either your modchip PCB, cables or some other voodoo magic. I've still got it mine in pieces and can test points to compare notes? My 5V pads read 4.7V when the unit is switched on with the door open and I've soldered to the same point on the underside of the CD deck PCB.

Nice skeleton saturn retro. I believe my chip is defective due to my whole setup looking exactly like yours. I really appreciate you modding a saturn of my type to compare it to. Also I moved my +5v location and still wont spin discs.

Don't mention it, happy to help and at the very least I've modded one of the Saturns that were on my to do list and got some video footage. I guess I should be thanking you! Haha! :)

Keep us all posted of how you go with your replacement chip, hopefully it will just work perfectly first time, second time around! :D

For my modchip I use the same 5V line as my region switch. When I put the line on the PSU, it caused the system to shutdown after 20 min.

I've used 28AWG wire for virtually all installs without issue. It's pulling a whole 5v at what? Maybe 300ma? Probably should make sure my wires are properly polarized for electron flow and oxygen free.

Of course if you're having problems moving to a lower gauge is worth trying particularly for high drain applications.
