Unknown NDEV cable

I found this cable with my NDEV that I bought and I have no clue what its used for. (See attachments for all images)

 

I guess this is an early version of the Wii LAN adapter:

I would, but seeing as I don't need another one, and I don't want to pay $30 on another one, I think I will take it apart and take better pics of it.
