How long before a current gen console game is considered 'unreleased' I was watching development of a game called "Harker" for the xbox360 but development seems to have gone stagnant. I've seen screenshots so I'm guessing there is a beta or some press material to review. Anyone seen anything from this game?
Until its declared cancelled by the developer. Theres a game on the 360 called Zombie Island thats been in development for years and nothings been shown since 2006. But the developers have re-insured its still in development. Not heard about the game your inquiring about though. Check Unseen 64 they have quite a good list with information regarding a lot of cancelled games.
Not sure if its good to bring that up. Was a touchy subject a few months ago! I think the retail version thats meant to be coming out later this year is going to be different from the one we saw to be honest.
To be fair, if I were a big gaming company and one of my major WIP games was publically leaked and/or offered for sale months before release, I'd probably be a bit "touchy" as well. When you're talking old betas of long released games, most companies really aren't going to care. With a few notable exceptions, gaming companies aren't going to pursue collectors that are interested in old IP that's already been exploited. It's just not worth the investment in the enforcement effort. With current stuff? They're going to come down on you like a ton of bricks and then some because now you're talking real money in potential lost sales. It doesn't matter the platform. If it is current gen and unreleased, don't screw with it. -hl718
Agreed there! Thats why there are rules when it comes to selling. Anything unreleased or in development getting put up for sale shouldn't be sold on here thats for sure. Unless the game is old enough for the company not to care about anymore like you said. Its just a completely different story with betas of a product already out there because its already done its part for the company bringing in sales so they don't tend to care.
