I was playing around with memory addresses in Resident Evil 2 for the Tiger Game.com, and I came across some unused items. Figured I'd share with everyone. The game contains Submachine Gun and Desert Eagle weapons which went completely unused (you can only ever pick up a pistol and a shotgun in this game). If you try to equip either of them, nothing happens. The game also has two items claiming to be ammo for an M79 grenade launcher--a weapon that seems to have been totally removed from the game. I was also able to warp to all the rooms stored in the game, and I found a few unused locations. Nothing too crazy, though; just a few duplicate rooms with incorrect exits (walk right one screen in the police station, and suddenly you're in the sewers).
Interesting. I used to own the little standalone RE2 Tiger game - the one that had a very small, GB-like screen and a link port on the top. Despite being pretty simplistic, I enjoyed it. I've never played the Game.com version, though I still have my Game.com around somewhere.
You can pick the game up for just a few bucks easily on ebay these days. Looks like a ton of them went unsold, actually. Not sure it's a game I'd recommend, though. It's certainly a decent effort to port the RE2 experience to a handheld device, but the Game.com's limitations affect the gameplay pretty severely. Animations usually are made up of one or two frames, movement and controls are sluggish and at times unresponsive, and it can sometimes be tricky to get to just the right position to trigger an interactable object. Playing it is a little tedious, really. Maybe I'd feel better about it if I was a fan of the original game. All that said, though, it's probably one of the Game.com's better titles! If you have the emulator at hand, that'd probably be a better experience; you'd have a brightly lit screen that's free of the blurriness the Game.com was known for.
