Many have been wondering if the Atari Jaguar had any sort of presence in Japan, after all it's mentioned several times on various forums about it but not too much has been discovered about it...Well here's some really cool stuff related to the Jaguar in Japan that i've found with the help of various Friends from Japan in Jaguar Sector III : *My friend's link to his website, where he sells fanzines with stuff related to both the Jaguar and the Lynx: http://www.bekkoame.ne.jp/~okiyasu/ A scan from French magazine Consoles+: And here's this unknown JPN catalog. Here's the story behind that piece from where i found it: "JAGUAR sales catalog It is a sales catalog of Atari Jaguar. Even if I say a sales catalog, it is black and white, and it is just a copy magazine like Mon. This is the cover. It is a staple stop. "Software listed as initial sales and scheduled to sell at a later date is listed. "Big titles like double dragon V! However, overseas "double dragon" is not an awkward feeling we know, "Iceman" made of whole body ice, or such an unusual character comes out as an American animation. (It seems to be the same thing for once as a license). I bought it at Messe Sang-o! I mean, I only sold it at Messe Sang - Oo (lol). "This maybe valuable material as it is. Information on what software was sold and when it was sold is probably not documented, and I have never seen this image on the net ... Well, the Jaguar itself itself is valuable, but (laugh)" This is the comment of my friend when i showed it to him: "These pages made by MESSE SANOH(https://ja.wikipedia.org/wiki/%E3%83%A1%E3%83%83%E3%82%BB%E3%82%B5%E3%83%B3%E3%82%AA%E3%83%BC) SANOH is already closed. We also translated the manual and delivered it to SANOH." Here's some of the previously never-before seen JPN release dates of various Jaguar games: http://tk-nz.game.coocan.jp/gamedatabase/software/DB_ATC_JG1994-1995.HTML And to end this, here's the extremely rare Famitsu WaveDVD Special Project "Porn Suzuki's Thorough Verification !! ATARI JAGUAR". It's 2 parts: Plus a somewhat unknown bit from a TV program: http://nicogame.info/watch/sm16867975 Here's another link: https://matome.naver.jp/odai/2141957670953644101
Used to have a copy of Wolf 3-D for the Jaguar from Japan; the only real difference is that it came with a Japanese manual, sadly. Lost it in a fire 9 years ago, though.
You still see some Jaguar stuff on YHJapan from time to time, but rarely the Japan-released items. One day, I'll replace it!
I have some pics that shows various Japanese people who had experience wtih it in various conventions and museums, such as Jagfest but others in JPN, i'll upload them sometime
Definitely do. I'm one of the guys who pre-ordered the Jaguar in '93, was on Don Thomas' (Atari's Director of Customer Service) BBS back in 1996, and hung out all this time from AtariHQ through JSIII's closing and obviously Atari Age, and any extra Jaguar history out there, I definitely want to see, especially when it comes to the failure in Japan. Glad to see another Jaguar enthusiast around here btw.
Don't worry I may do a updated list of the Cyberroach original list about the unreleased games for the system, i know a lot about them thanks to some chatting and stuff posted by various people who has done proper research and with help of old Atari and 3rd party programmers!
What happend to Jaguar Sector? I use to be an avid user and even produced Jagwired Magazine. Use to go back from time to time, but noticed it was gone awhile back.
Jaguar Sector II closed a long time ago due to some issues that popped thanks to some negative people. If you want to check what has been of many of the members of the site, check the facebook group Jaguar Sector III. There's old members of the site there, fans of the system and even old developers and Atari employees hangin' around
Here's some pics that i found on twitter some time ago in relation to the Jaguar in Japan. The pics belong to their respective owners
Here's yet another set of pics (most of them with the Jag on a display comes from a expo called Game ON):
Here's yet some more + sales figures from Famitsu '95. Fun fact: the Jaguar was released on december 8th, 1994 and it sold less than 3000 units. It also made a cameo on a anime (P.S.: Why we didn't get that AVP bundle here???):
Here's i think the last set of Japanese Jaguar-related pics. Did some of the releases had anything different from the NA/EU counterpart? Well yes they do. They have a manual for both english & japanese. This applies for the releases by Mumin/Moomin Corporation & Messe Sang Oh. Sorry if i spammed like crazy this thread...
