Hi everyone! A few years back I bought a boxed PAL Sega Saturn at a second hand shop in Sydney, Australia, and the controller it came with was one I've never seen anywhere else. It's probably nothing, but I thought I'd get a bit of insight into exactly what it is. Judging by the "Sega Accessiories" label I'm guessing it's bootleg...

Yeah, that seems like a bootleg. Not the worst one I've seen, though.

It's like a cross between the Japanese Saturn pad (2nd Euro pad) and the nasty US / 1st Euro pad. How does it feel?

Seems to be rather recent considering how new it looks.

Nasty! It rustles at the slightest movement and the buttons are hard to press often failing to register in game.
I have this exact one I bought sometime in 1999. Bought a pair for 99 Cents each thinking I got s killer deal and till then day I regret it, didn't know how it felt because It was sealed inside a tough blue blister pack.

I actually don't mind it, it's pretty tight and a bit more responsive than the first US ones. Thanks for the ID help too, everyone!

Looks like Sega Ozisoft took the Competition Pro Saturn-8/Nyko Strike Pad and rebranded it:

Here is another 3rd party controller they rebranded, the ST-4:

This looks cool actually, the buttons are probably crap though. as for that other one, who in their right mind would replace the Japanese D-Pad style with the "thumb cutter" US D-Pad? having the US design with the Japanese D-Pad would've made more sense.

There was a Hori NES pad Sega bought the rights to and then used it for the Master System. Wouldn't be surprised if this is the same thing.

I've used the competition pro pad before but always thought it looked weird with the off centre start button plus the build quality isn't great. Although the button placement is less cramped compared to the Japanese pad.
