I just got myself a PAL xbox 360 (for $50) to go with my NTSC/U elite - my question is: Can the same xbox Live account be used with both boxes? I've got some PAL original xbox games I'd like to try on the PAL 360 unit, but it looks like it needs an update to add compatibility - assuming I used the same Live account, are 360 updates region specific & if so, would it know to d/l the right one for a PAL unit? As an aside - although I knew that some 360 games weren't region locked, I've been pleasantly suprised to find that 50% of the NTSC games I own, run happily on the PAL unit.
Yeh, should'nt be a problem, I flip between different region consoles, just keep your profile on a mem card and alternate when yer like. ...Updates will sort themselves out.
Cheers, OE - that's what I needed to know. I was a little leery of causing a brick if the firmware was somehow associated with the Live account locale. Is a mem card essential, or would recovering your profile from Live do? (I don't currently possess a 360 mem card.) Thanks, Limey.
If you just want the updates, why bother with the recovery? (and recovery is a pain because it will invalidate the login on your original box) Updates can be added manually by downloading the update XEX files from Xbox.com (if you don't have your console on Live) or automatically simply by connecting to Live with any account. You can just create a free Silver account and not worry about it. -hl718
Thanks for that, too - creating a separate silver account for the PAL box would seem to be the way to go.
