As the files may get lost amongst the many pages of the ripping problems thread I am reposting here so they can be found more easily. For the debugging discussion please see the ripping problems thread in the Geist Force sub forum or follow this link http://www.assemblergames.com/forums/showthread.php?t=32554

Right I figured out why the .GDI failed to load - track01.bin was completely dummied, so I redid it in HxD to only remove the offending items. The files extract fine but bear in mind the majority of them (1756 of 1766) are dummied and only 10 of them contain data - they are the bare necessities and for lulz, the preloaded files.

Even with my problems I'm positve I dummied only the uneccessary files - as with the original Bare Necessities this grants access to the debug menu ONLY. The only difference here is the preloaded files and .GDI format.

The only real catch is the file names will inevitably give rise to some spoilers, but as prevously stated 1756 of the files are empty so there is nothing anyone can do with them ;)

If you compile the pack and mount the SelfBoot.nrg on Daemontools then load into nullDC via X:\ the .nrg will boot.

If you rip X:\ into a .cdi via Padus DiscJuggler and mount the .cdi onto X:\ then load X:\ in nullDC it will boot.

If you load the .cdi directly into nullDC it will crash after the licence screen just as the debug menu is due to appear - these are the same symptoms we experience with the real McCoy and which the dummied version accurately replicates. The details of the error are as follows:

Also to be clear, the debug window in the bottom left of the screen does not appear when ran on a Set 5.24 unless you are in RGB (VGA) mode!

    [GDROM Sector Info]

    45000 - GD-ROM IP.BIN/Start sector
    45016 - GD-ROM DATA Start sector

+150 sector offset so 45000 becomes 45150 and 45016 becomes 45166 and so forth.

BTW the .gdi was already posted - there is nothing out of the oridinary, it uses 3 tracks and the +150 offset in httpd-ack too but as people want to see it again.

    3
    1 0 4 2352 track01.bin 0
    2 1007 0 2352 track02.raw 0
    3 45000 4 2352 track03.bin 0

GFBN.rar 20.94 MB (WARNING: will extract to 1.12 GB!)

    Happy debugging!
