I think the yellow light comes from the fan control in webman. Don't worry about it, everything is fine. ;)

it depends on when during boot it goes yellow and for how long as the yellow comes from the red & green led being on at the same time. If you're talking about when you press the button then the console goes from showing the red light to the green light when you turn it on, for a very short time it will look yellow.

web man doesn't get loaded until much later in the boot, when the screen is displayed.

A PS3 console in fault condition will "panic". The highest level of panic behavior for PS3 is shutdown. In case of a serious fault in a game it will emit three beeps then will try to reboot. If that fails it will shut down lighting both red and green leds at same time (aka yellow) then it will stay on standby with a flashing red light.

If you're running something, it freezes and shuts down but once you power cycle it and it comes back alive, it's very likely what you're experiencing is a serious software crash instead. My point with this post is tell you that this yellow light behavior is a generic error indication.

If you have consistent yellow light on power on it is likely to be a severe hardware fault (for example faulty GPU) or software fault (corrupted primary firmware storage) hence people calling it yellow light of death.

If you're having the exact same issue on three different consoles, it sure sounds like you hit some severe software bug on the application that is crashing.

Using it that way, you're doing it the right way. You're using the BD emulation native to the DEX unit, which honestly is why they make DEX units (TEST) which is allow game company people to play test pre-production games without need to make BD-ROMs for them.

NTFS on PS3 is just a hack... lol
