Hey all, Having bought a TEST PS3 running on 3.41 Firmware, I have received a couple of review and preview PS3 discs that require the 3.50 update. The PS3 is prompting me to update the console from the disc, but is that ok to do? Can I brick my TEST unit from such an update? I know it works on retail units and retail games, never updated a PS3 TEST before so I'm just being uber cautious as I've only just got it! Thanks for any help in advance! :thumbsup:
I don't think you will be able to update the console from these discs as they contain an blank (256MB of zeroes) update file.
oliviera is right... your going to need to find a source for getting ps3 firmwares and updates. starting with 3.56 your going to need the update and the sdk since the keys have been changed.so selfs from older sdks will no longer work on 3.56. sonys doing something right for once?
It's ok, I got my source to upload the 3.56 FW to my private server so I managed to update it from my USB stick. :thumbsup: All good. :nod:
