    First off, I'll start by saying this: Yes I have done my research. Master Quest is not Ura or Gaiden.

    Second off, I'll say that I have the debug ROM. And yes, I have dug around and found some 64DD references in it.

    Now I don't know if Ura or Gaiden exist or not. I'm not one of the Zelda fanboys, but Ocarina of Time intrigued me because out of all of the Zelda games, This one was a mystery in many ways. From the many cover-ups that Nintendo made, to the Beta and Debug maps/regions within the game.

    Here's the thing... I've compared filesizes, the Debug ROM is around 32 Megabytes larger than a regular OoT ROM. Either that's filled with maps, or there's something that we haven't discovered. Working with a hex editor, I found a lot of crap. And I mean crap. The 64DD stuff isn't used unless an actual 64DD is attatched with the Disk of Ura or Gaiden inside.

    So why the extra junk? And if you say "Master Quest is the same as Ura, just a dumbed down version of it." Ahem, not a chance. It would exceed 32 MBytes. MQ is just a re-arranged OoT with harder dungeons. Sort of like a Hard mode.

    Again, I ask, where has this mystery gone? What has Nintendo been hiding from us? Or is the Debug just Ura Zelda and we don't know it? I'd suggest you download the Debug for yourself and find out.

    Have you ever looked at this topic?

    http://www.assemblergames.com/forums/showthread.php?t=23285

    And no, there is no super secret mystery with the debug rom. If you noticed, the compile date is actually a few minutes before or after the final date of the final binary (I had a list of compile dates for every oot/mm rom in existence but it's missing somewhere, so I forget exactly what they did). Everything tagged a long inside the rom is because it's been compiled with debugging flags - meaning that the reason those maps are on the map select are because they have been implanted/compiled/worked on first (not sure, but sysotest or whatever - MAP 121/120, is the first map on the list of maps internally. Meaning that either it was the first map, or it was one of the first maps. That I know for sure). Master Quest/OoT Gamecube itself is actually using the same debugger included within Majora's Mask.

    I'd say more but I kinda said everything in the other topic.

    64dd references aren't uncommon in n64 games. It was added "Just in case" or because they planned on making more of the game. Obviously the 64DD ended up being a huge fucking flop, so those games that would have accessed the drive never got their added content. It's kind of the same way Nintendo put an external port at the bottom of their NES. Just in case they wanted to add on to it. Never happened, but Nintendo has always had a "keep your doors open" thing going for them, which I have a huge respect for. Unlike Sega who had to go through every open door.

    Heh. Is there any expansion port on a product that Sega produced that wasn't horribly assaulted? (^_^);

    Yes. The serial port on the backside of the first model Megadrive/Genesis was never officially supported by Sega, although a third party developer did plan to use it until the official word came down that it was getting nixed. ;)

    Wasn't the SNES port going to be used for Philips CD attachment?

    No, wasn't it going to just be a CD add on? Secret of Mana was developed for it until it was dropped.

    please, don't turn this into a SNES-CD related thing, there's been pages and pages devoted to every little information about it elsewhere on the forum:p
