Is this anime worth buying? is it good? so far i only downloaded 1 episode but i am not really sure... i love ranma, inuyasha, and mainson ikkoku.... so i might love this... so what do ya think? btw if anyone has seen r1 and r2 source, do they look the same, or r2 looks alot better?
I like Urusei Yatsura, I used to watch it on PBS a lot. IMO, its better than Maison Ikkoku at least. Its really dated, which is a good thing to me. & I have no clue what R1/2 means.
Actually, it was subbed. (Before the national anime boom...) This was 1998-1999. KTEH, the California bay area's local PBS out of San Jose was pretty progressive. They aired ("uncensored") anime every sunday night for a few hours. 8 years ago, the only place to see anime on TV at least where I lived was PBS, Sci Fi channel and the occasional Fox kids show
aight, then i shall buy, i downloaded dvd1 from newsgroups... some1 posted it.... and they look like this: has anyone seen r2 source? is it alot better or the same? "r2 ntsc/j"[/img]
Oh, region 2. Depends on your distributer. Animeigo were the ones to release the region 1 dvds i think. Haven't looked into this for years. Region 2 are always better, but in Japanese.
oh well, the dvds look really good, the menus are crap, the subs are good "they even have subtitles on top of the video like the fansub to explain stuff like oni, etc" and the best of all, they dont have english dub and all the beutiful kanji is there ^_^ it survived the horrible english hardsub!!! aaa and this kid on episode 4 has goku's voice first time i hear hes voice in another anime, do any of you know any other anime in which he does voice acting? :smt083
Animeigo never dubbed the Urusei Yatsura TV series completely. In fact, when they started bringing this out on tape (this was something like 10 years ago) a decently sized group was complaining, "Where's the dub?" In response to this, they intentionally made the worst dub in the history of dubbing for the first 4 episodes, and these demands ceased. :smt043
