    Hey all, quick question:

    I've just got a Dreamcast heading my way from the US, and of course it's the NTSC American model. My main concern is the power supply - will it be viable/will it work if I just plug in my Dreamcast power cable into the unit and into the socket here in Ireland (Same sockets as the UK)? Or am I missing something?

    Thanks in advance. :)

    Also, just to note: It's the differences between US and UK power that worry me - like, do I need anything other than a UK plug in order to use the system without blowing it up? xD

    You will need a transformer if you wish to use the US console with the stock power supply in a European country such as Ireland, otherwise it will blow instantly, since the power supply from a US console is rated for 100-120v and EU uses 220-240v depending on the country. So your options are to either switch the power supply for one from an EU model, purchase 3rd-party power supply or buy a transformer. Anything that has a rating of over 27W should be fine.

    Thanks mate! Now that I have the "knowledge", where should I look for one - and is there any exact item to look out for? Like, is there a particular name or model, etc - sorry, I'm not the best at finding things like this ^^;

    EDIT: Think this would suffice? http://www.ebay.ie/itm/UK-US-Stepdo...al_Components_Supplies_ET&hash=item1c1c2f27e1

    Hello, yes it would work, although the shipping from UK to Ireland is rather expensive. Isn't there a seller within Ireland?

    Unfortunately not :/ Our country sucks at selling tech stuff xD it's like, sure - we have lots of it, but it seems like we want to keep it for ourselves. xD Weird. And very annoying on eBay. :banghead:
