Ugh... That doesn't look like corrosion. Looks more like sludge to me, at least in the cart slot. I'd say $40 to the right buyer. Even though, the corrosion on the battery could be taken off with some sandpaper, and that'll boost the value to $50.

Yeah, I'm not 100% sure about the cartridge slot and don't have any "disposable" cartridge lying around I'd be willing to test with. I don't want to get too aggressive with cleaning just yet. I'm reading about different cleaning strategies right now.

I've cleaned it since I took the pictures, but I'd want to let the buyer know what the condition was before. The battery cleaning was pretty easy. Surprised me.

Ah! Well in that case, try some electrical contact cleaner and a toothbrush. If you have a hobby shop near you, motor cleaner will work, too. I always clean my consoles with it and its safe on plastic and electronics.

What?! That's battery acid. Could well have eaten through the board.

Without cables, it's not really worth anything as you can't even show it works. Get it fired up and yes, it has value. You need to take off a standard Saturn price the value of a controller, video and power cables.

He said he cleaned it up? Also doesn't look like it made it to the board.

AFTER you said that, he said he'd cleaned it up. You really can't tell from the photo whether it has affected the board. The best advice would be to carefully clean that, as it is acid and may affect components or traces on the board that it has touched.

Okay, sorry. It looked like surface rust and the stuff that did get out was contained in the battery holder. Dealt with it multiple times with PCs, typically just sanding off the rust and throwing a new battery in fixes it.

No problem ;) Even on a PC, what you're seeing if it looks like that is spilt battery acid that has reacted with the material. Proceed with caution! :)

I'll post pics post-cleanup. It works fine, no problems.

The electrical contact cleaner with the toothbrush, I'm worried I won't be able to get it out once it goes down the cartridge slot. Am I worrying about nothing?

Thanks everyone for your help. Sad that the round button ones are the same value as the oval buttons. I thought these would be worth more.

    Good that it works.

If you want to clean it properly, take it apart!

    Won't that ruin the value?

You probably already know, but whatever you do wash your hands thoroughly after messing with all that corrosion and if you have goggles wear them. I ended up getting some in my eye by accident once when working on a console and that was terrible.

I wussed out on opening the console and cleaning the inside.

I finally got a new battery and it works fine, but there's some residue I can't get clean around the metal part of the battery holder, no matter how hard I try. Should I be concerned?
