if your looking to play pal carts, you will need either a super cic mod installing inside the snes or a import adapter.

if your looking just to just play sfc carts you could just mod the slot on your console.

It won't work with a small number of games but Game Genie is a cheap way to get around the issue of the physical shape. However with a US SNES system if you have the plastic tabs I would recommend just removing them instead of screwing around with adapters. They serve no purpose other than to stop you from playing Japanese cartridges. You can cleanly remove them and you'll never miss them. Or you can not so cleanly remove them like I did and still never miss them or even notice.

The problem is tougher for those with SFC and PAL systems that want to play US cartridges since they physically won't fit in the slot since they are rectangular. For those people it makes much more sense to get an adapter or Action Replay cartridge.
