Canadian release. I'm surprised they used a different cover for Canada, but my hunch is that the European manual was needed for the french speakers.
I have the same cartridge except it says Sega Genesis instead of Sega Megadrive. On the case it says "Made in Taiwan" and had what appears to be the PAL manual with an assortment of languages.
Yes, mine is exactly like that, I'll check this evening if there's some artifacts of the European version in the manual.
Cover? It's cart only. Do you mean the label? That looks normal to us in the UK, other than the Genesis logo, of course. Was it different there, then?
Well the box and cart label used the the european art. For the american version it looked like this as apposed to the european cover
The Canadian release indeed. Guardiana lists it: http://www.guardiana.net/MDG-Database/Mega%20Drive/Sonic%20The%20Hedgehog/#v2743
You need glasses mate :110: . How can you say that when you live in the US. The country with the worst Mega Drive and SNES box art EVER! and don't get me started on the Turbo Grafix covers  Yakumo PS: Yes, I know there are some dud japanese Mega Drive covers out there but in general they are much more pleasing to the eye.
Don't forget their Saturn ones! They were pretty poor. And as for the actual cases, if you have a complete collection you could replace your stairs with it ;-)
How could anyone put down the cover japanese cover art for sonic? I mean the U.S. cover did the job, but to be honest it's bland compared to the japanese and european art. Imo japanese cover art is usually the best when it comes to games.
I love how the Japanese cover proclaims he's the most famous hedgehog despite it being his first game. I know since I'm Australian I'm bias towards the white cover but the US cover is just too cluttered although it advertises the game better.
Hey, like I implied, US artwork is horrible. I was raised on the European art, which was slightly better. The Super Famicom had the best art by far. But Japanese Mega Drive art, on the whole, was a fucking dogs dinner.
cool, I never knew the multi-language manuals were Canadian too (I have a Decap Attack and Quackshot like that) Thanks
