[SOLD] TimeTop GameKing I & GameKing II

    ** SOLD **

    Hello all.

I am beginning to sell my handheld system collection and I have some oddities available for the enthusiasts/collectors out there. This first listing is for the TimeTop GameKing I and its successor the GameKing II.

This line of handheld systems was released by the Chinese company TimeTop. Though both look like unlicensed clones (GK1 = GBA, GK2 - PSP), they do utilize propriety software though 99% were rip-offs of existing titles. Each system was packaged with a multi-game cartridge enabling instant-play.

I purchased these as NIB, but there was no plastic wrap nor seal of any kind on the outer flaps when I received it. I believe this was standard since I have seen a few others for sale as New without any sort of seal. The system / packaging / directions / etc. for both systems looked unscathed (and still is) when I opened up the boxes to test/check them out. There is an inspection notice in each box - I am not sure if this is from Chinese Customs when I purchased it or from TimeTop as part of their Quality Inspection process.

In all honesty, I wasn't impressed at all by the games - if you are purely a gamer, don't bother with these oddities at all. Both would be a rather neat, odd novelty for the collector (not too mention cheap). I am looking for $49 per system - $89 for the set. I have seen these on eBay for a little less, but this will require high shipping costs to import (US) (not too mention the non-standard packaging of some of them). Just want to let you know up front why I am pricing this as such.

Let's get to the pics of these wild animals:

Only the later models came with the multi-carts the early ones didn't.

I miss my GameKing, it was actually a decent little system, the games (while clones) were for the most part quite well done considering the limitations of the system (like the resolution)

Thanks for the info Tachikoma - I admit that I am no expert on these systems at all and have very limited game play on them (besides the pack-ins). I know that the GK III has been released, so it is safe to assume these two had a somewhat successful run in China/Brazil/other?

How well they sold I couldn't tell you, I seriously doubt anyone other than the manufacturer knows how many they have made and distributed. But yeah, can't be that bad if they are on their third version all these years later.

Tach - where did you get yours (when you had it) if I may ask? I see these from time to time from South American sellers - bought mine from a Chinese seller.

Technically 5 (or 7, depending on how you are counting) models exist for the Gameking line.

Glad to hear some folks modest appreciation for the little guy. I love 'um, myself, and I think anyone over the age of ...30, should find something about the system to like. If you can enjoy a quality 2600 game, there's potential good times to be had with a GK too.

(over 60 games released to GK I/GK II. Any fans or critics play more than 8 or 9 of 'um?)
