The UK PS3 says 220-240V but works fine at 100V, ditto Japanese one says 100V and works fine at 230V. So far every Japanese PS3 I've seen works on 220-240V and I can't see the American one being any different. So far the only PS3 that has had a 100-240V label has been the debug units I've seen.
What was your heart rate like as you plugged $600 into the mains socket?:110: Good to know that they still appear to be multi-voltage. I really wish they'd indicate that capability on the back of the machines, but I guess there's all manner of reasons (sales region protection / liability / ability to change to a cheaper region specific supply later) why they won't. Still, I'm very happy that I can run JP games on my US one, so I shouldn't complain too much...
Luckily I got it for just $499 as the box seal was damaged and as a result Sony would only give it a 90 day warranty. I tested it in the hotel and it was fine and seeing as PlayStation warranties are not worldwide I figured I may as well save some cash!
