(USA) WTB: Samsung SDG605 DVD drive for Xbox.

Looking for a SDG605 drive for the Xbox. Specifically looking for one that has a dead laser. I'll need it for a 1.1 model Xbox I have coming soon. Reason I'd prefer one with a dead laser is because I have a Samsung SD616T drive I plan to rob the laser assembly from for the drive. They interchange and save me the trouble of having to mod the 616T for Xbox use when swapping the laser out gives all of the same benefits.

Located in the USA but anywhere in the world is fine. Would also like a power cable for the drive if possible. The yellow 12 wire one that connects the drive to the Xbox. If not then that's fine too.

I got two of those Sammy drives that I am pretty sure have dead lasers. I can check later. I also have some of the yellow cables.

 

OK. Since I have 2 with some willing to part this will now be a bid. Who can offer me a good price for 2 then? Think I'll see about getting 2 with the DVD power cables.

 

I'll check mine after I get off work tomorrow to actually see if they are broken. Pretty sure they are but I haven't touched them in a long time.

 

I checked mine and hope MoonTar comes through lol. Mine both work and I prefer the Sammy's over anything else.

 

OK. I'll go with what MoonTar has then. If they work then best hold onto them while they do. Like I said, I'll be swapping the laser decks out for ones from Samsung SD616T drives. Makes the 605 almost twice as fast and more media compatibility. Thanks for the offer though Ghost1945.

If I do get 2 instead of 1 then I'll need another cheap SD616T from eBay since I only have 1 with a laser deck right now...

 

Well, good news and bad news..............although the bad news for you is actually good news for me. lol One of them works and one of them does not. The broken one tried to read the disc then it gave up and a nice green strobe light came up on the TV. It also had trouble ejecting the second time.

 

I hope that problem is just in the laser and not the driver board. The problematic eject is also a small issue. New belt and some cleaning/ greasing should fix that. My current one has trouble ejecting too. Guess I'll need to work both over then.

You can just have it for the price of shipping, its broken after all. I don't know when I can ship out though, I just threw away all my shipping boxes because they were clogging up the hallway. >_>

 

Take your time. Waiting on the 1.1 console I got for dirt cheap that this will go in. I'm in Texas so shipping should be decent.

Just the drive is fine. I have a spare empty casing if I need the caddy and bezel too. I'll PM you my address to figure shipping cost.
