OK so here is what I am planning to accomplish: I have read some stuff about the USB Advanced/Extreme lately (A disc and some tools that allow you to connect a USB harddisk to your unmodded PS2 and play your games directly from HDD) and I figured this would be great to use on my TOOL or TEST especially knowing that I am sparing my lasers on both machines quite some stress and wear.. Anyway so I downloaded USB Advanced/Extreme and knowing that both the TEST and TOOL do not accept CDR/DVDR without patching it as a masterdisc I used the patch tool first but to no avail, both the TEST and TOOL didn't accept the patched iso (tried several brands of CDR) but on the other hand I was not able to patch/burn and run any CDR's anyway until now by my experiance on both machines..(DVDR's work fine though but burning the CDR image on a DVDR with DVDDecrypter didnt help) so I ditched that plan and started looking at the possibilities to execute the included .elf file of USB A/E on the TOOL using the following commands: [root@ps2tool bin]# ./dsedb -d localhost -r run /root/usbadvn.elf And it comes back with the following: *** Resetting... EE DECI2 Manager version 0.06 Oct 31 2003 19:02:01 CPUID=2e14, BoardID=4126, ROMGEN=2003-1031, 128M Loading program (address=0x01c8a2b0 size=0x00075ee4) ... section header not found While the screen stays black off course. Also tried to download and run it from the Codewarriors CWComUtil, Codewarrior itself and ProDG but also without luck. So all that rests to test is an original USB Advanced/Extreme disc that I just ordered online but might take a while to arrive.. and as I couldnt wait this thread is the result hoping that some of you out there might have a tip or suggestion on what and how to proceed. Off course when the original disc arrives I'll test it with both the TOOL and TEST to the full extend to let you guys know if it works and how it works and this may be our laser saviour we have all been waiting for!!
Nice one may work tho I dont have it to test, but ill check if I can get a hold of one and let you know! As for the USB Advanced CD it booted fine on a friends modded retail PS2 as expected.. but i'll have to note that not all games seem to work sadly enough (some hang on loading screens and some work fine except for the intro) but there are lots that do work as they should so its still a nice way to protect my lasers. Allthough it takes quite some time to copy the games to the usb disc as you have to use a special tool for it (no drag and dropping OH: )
