I have some of these and they work great on PCs (recognized as generic USB gamepads). I recently purchased a USB to XBOX cable, a keyboard worked fine but the controllers do nothing. It would be great to try classic pads on emulators on the XBOX. Any hope?
I think the Controllers interface with 'Direct Play'. XBox controllers operate via a USB style port but the signals they send are specialised rather than through the Direct Play interface as in Windows, so they are incompatible.
theoretically it would be possible using linux on the xbox as long as there is a supported linux driver for the gamepad, however your then limited to using it only to play games / emulators on linux which they would run, but not be as optimised as their xbox conterparts made with the xdk Only other option is to buy a ms siderwinder gamepad, i cant remeber exactly which model, but apparently they based the xboxpad off it and is compatable with the adapter you have, cant confirm this 100% but im sure someone on the board will know more than me
Well its not going to work that way,I think the only way for it to work if some wrote some custom drivers for a emulator. Also if you really want to use lets say a nes controller than look here. http://forums.xbox-scene.com/index.php?showtopic=510168
for some reason, classic games can't be played with XBOX/X360 controllers - they re too bulky and feel uncomfortable! Anyone who played Symphony of the Night on XBL should know what I m talking about
