I did wonder after posting that. Do fast SD cards translate well to the PSP via adaptor? I got this recently and the transfer rates are 10x faster than my old cards. Games pretty much always load instantly, it has transformed my PSP user experience.
About £45. Maybe it wasn't the best solution after all. Oh well, can't complain - it works perfectly for me. In the past I bought one of those adaptors that accepts two microSD and it didn't work at all so that put me off buying something similar again.
I actually don't think $45 is too bad for what looks to be a genuine card. Real MagicGate Memory Sticks are far and away the best solution in terms of speed and reliability, especially when playing actual PSP games. I hae a couple of ProDuo cards for that purpose. For PSone games and emulators/homebrew I use a Photofast adapter (2 microSD), I haven't had any game-save related issues, although many PSP ISO/CSO games will just refuse to load. I think the trick with the dual microSD adapters is using compatible cards, I use matching class 10 Sandisk Ultras - the red/grey cards. Also you have to put both cards in, then format, then leave the whole setup exactly as it was when formatted, no goofing around switching cards in and out. I recently bought a PSPGo to compliment my 1001, wish someone would make a microSD to Memory Stick Micro adapter for that thing, obviously the onboard storage is perfect for ISO/CSO, but I can fill 16GB pretty quickly.
i remember that back in the day i found an official Sony M2 for my PSPGo, 32g and it worked very well don't know if it's still available today :/
This was bought from Amazon, I'm very aware of fake memory cards. This and a PSP-1000 and I've got a good 30 or so games in my pocket. I do plan to make a loading time comparison video one time. Between this and a PSP-1000 from UMD as well as this and an older memory stick duo.
I use a Chinese 4gb card in my psp 1000 loading times are a little faster than booting from UMD but I should take my UMD speeds with a gain of salt because it's a "refurb" from GameStop/ebgames.. anyone got the spare cash to throw in two 128gb Sandisk cards??
I see a lot of hate of UMDs on internet. But it was the only technology which could give large capacity at small cost. UMDs cost less than cartridge even today.
