Hey, I was thinking about picking up a spare player II famicom controller to use on the computer or some sort of audio line out. I don't know what connector is uses. Is there a way to convert it to USB or get the mic signal to a line out signal or something like that?
I'm late Yes, you can There are a lots of ways to do this For example, this is my way I don't have good controller for mega drive 6-button and in my Country shops they sell's just bad quality controllers so I bought 2 bad quality controls MegaDrive 6-button was very bad quality buttons, and i has a lots of good PSX controllers so i take the NOAC from mega drive controller and solder it with PSX controller Now i have (Up, Down, Left, Right, ABCXYZ-button and juts START) I gave up the remaining buttons no need them i know it's crazy idea, but if you want to do like I did just get any old USB controller. (PC USB Controller => Famicom II) GoodLuck!
Better option. The controller should be the same as a NES model minus the start and select as well as the addition of the mic and volume controller. At least I think it runs the same stuff inside. Don't quote me on it since I'm not completely sure. So to that end, you could try a NES to PC USB adapter to get the buttons recognized then hook the mic side to a regular 3.5 audio jack for the mic input on the PC. you will have to cut the connector off and solder the wires but that's easy enough to do.
