So ultimately I've been trying to hook up my PSX to my capture card so I can record footage of RE betas from the original hardware, however as I'm using a PAL machine with an old mod chip the system outputs in B&W via S-Video or Composite which are the only hook ups I can use (PAL systems output in colour via RGB). I've heard that using a newer mod chip in the system will allow it to output in colour, however that's not something I have the skils to do. My other option was to use the PS2 which has no problems outputting NTSC signals in colour, however I'm not sure how well the PS2 will handle beta code as I know there's some compatability issues with Breaker Pro and some games. Does anyone have any advice on the matter? Before I waste money on a useless product I thought I'd ask and see what people said, or if there's any other solution out there. I've been keeping my eyes out on modded US machines however they rarely pop up on ebay. Any help is appreciated.
I know the action replay for ps1 (later version where you can use a regular mem card to store codes and has no dongle) works as a swap disc for ps2 to play ps1 games. Problem is you still have to be able to swap discs without opening the drive. Model 1 ps2 would be either using the knife trick or buying one of those custom flip top cases.
Well I've got everything I need to swap the discs, been using the slide tool and boot discs for years. The problem is I don't know whether Breaker Pro will like beta games, I'm guessing I'm just gonna have to buy it and find out. What about PSX consoles? Does anyone know a workaround to the B&W issue via S-Video? I tried using amcap to change the signal and it works when I'm using my 360 with the Dazzle, but it seems the signal can't be fixed from the PSX. :/
You can switch the video when using the Breaker Pro. Just set it to PAL and the game should be in color on Composite Video. However the game will run a bit slower and you will see a black bar on top of the screen.
Do a google search for "ImportPlayer Light v2.1" its a bood disc, simply burn the disc, insert it into your psx, and force the output to PAL, then insert your game, it works 95% of the time to force or fix video region on psx systems. On some of the very old mod chips you had to force the lid switch closed for boot discs to work. Edit, No need to google Ive attached it for you, its a massive 16Kb
Thanks. Although will that cause the game to run in 50hz? That's something I don't really want to do.
