    Hi,

I have recently bought a device which came with a USA style universal power cable. It is capable of taking 230v input, so I have bought a cheap USA to UK adapter.

This might be a silly question, but does it matter which way around I plug the cable into the adapter?

if the item is what it is, and the adapter/converter fits UK mains sockets without problem, NO!
    you'll be gold.
ac is ac, if it was dc, then polarity would matter!
    ...
double check rating on item (not adapter) before you get plugged in....to the other side! :wink-new:

If it mattered, it wouldn't fit correctly if you are plugging it in wrong the wrong way around. One of the blades on the plug would be larger than the other, and thus would not fit if you plug it in the wrong way.

Thanks for the replies. It does fit either way, so I guess either way is fine. :)

I had guessed this was probably the case, but it figured there is no harm in making sure.
