So, a few seconds after startup, my xbox started making a grinding-ish noise, but there were no noticable problems happened. It also seems to only do this if it's been off for an hour or more. Is this something to be worried about?

No expert on Xbox repair with noises, but first ideas:

Open her up and check HDD, and fan(s). hopefully a fan hitting dust or broke(somehow), replaceing those are somewhat easy. (can also be the dvd, for it being a moving part party aswell) hdd hopefully isnt making the noices but if it is.. its dying:
    sample sounds: https://www.youtube.com/watch?feature=player_detailpage&v=WNJqTPutrJ4#t=80

Good luck :D (replacement parts are mostly more expensive than a new Xbox, unless second hand fan's or drives are used. modchip will make a hdd or dvd replacement cheaper, also a great "upgrade" on your xbox)

It's not clicking or having a high-pitched noise, It sounds like the noise you get from forcibly stopping a fan while it's running. It goes for 5 seconds, and then goes away.

It's just the ball bearings in the fan. My Debug does the same thing.
