It's interesting to note then that Donkey Kong in the Gameboy Advance Famicom mini collection does have a silver box rather then a red box, which I would have assumed...

What gaijinpunch said, first time I've heard of the phrase... Pulse maybe because of the pulse logo on the cartridge.

Which were the hardest to get? Most of them do seem easy to find, I got Golf, Tennis, Baseball, Mahjong and Go for 105 Yen each and the Donkey Kong games for less then 1500yen each.

I know down where Japangames and myself live, those carts complete aren't that easy to come by. Getting just the cart is relatively easy or even a beaten up complete copy but for something decent you really have to look.

Gomokunarabe (1st row, 3rd column, top) can be hard to find. So are the Popeye English and Donkey Kong English games. Believe it not it took me about a month to find Wild Gunman. I passed on about 20 copies that didn't have a box, or instructions, or was in really ratty shape. That included daily searches on Yahoo and visiting about 10 stores. Pinball, Baseball, Golf, etc, those are pretty easy to find.

In reality they seem like games you see every day, but when you want all 16 of them boxed with instructions that's when you start to really look and that's when it takes more time than you think. I have about 8 spare copies of different laser carts because I had to buy a small bundle to get the one I needed.

You can add Lode Runner and Nuts & Milk as the 17th and 18th game released:

They kind of follow the same generic theme. After those you start getting into the Namcot numbered games.

Like HuCards, in fact lots of publishers numbered their games so you could start putting up lists for almost each publisher (Irem, Namcot, Jaleco, ...).

Though Namcot games were very nice indeed. There was even a special carrying case made for the first 10 volumes:

Thanks a lot for the picture of all 16 games, I will try to hunt them down over the next few... years :)
The only one I have already is Mario Bros., so there's a lot of work waiting for me.

Do you know over what time Nintendo released those 16 "laser" carts? Popeye, DK and DK Jr at launch in July 1983, but what was then?

Famicom Basic should be before Donkey Kong 3, although some might argue if it's a game or not or just a piece of software.

Namcot then also went for nice plastic boxes for their games later in life and rereleased a few games in Plastic boxes too.

Anyway no one seems to have cleared up the matter of what came first the silver boxes or not as it seems strange that for the Famicom Mini series that Nintendo show the Silver box version of Donkey Kong rather then the Red one. Although the silver box versions of the games do seem to go for a lot more money then the normal versions.

The silver ones have to be the rereleases.

It has now the cover artwork printed on the cartridge and according to the early "laser style" which got first interrupted by Lode Runner after quite some time, those can't have been released before.

After my experience you can find them the easiest by looking for 鉄 in the Famicom section, I had no luck at all with シルバー .

Yes, the silver boxes are the games that was rereleased, I think I read it in the Fami-Complete book.

On the hunt again. I was just asking myself what Irem's "Ai-sensei no oshiete: Watashi no Hoshi" might be worth, it has a very fancy box:

Besides, "Ai-sensei" caught my interest. Any idea what it is about? A really rare Ai-rem game (tumbleweed passes) maybe?

Thanks. Will have to get rather a 5000 than a 10000 copy then^^

    @Japan-Games
Do you still have those pictures of your "laser cart" set? I just saved the one with the outer boxes, but I'm missing the interiors and particularly the carts. I was searching for some of those games recently (seems to be a hard job to get all of them) and I found only Hogan's Alley versions with a colored violet box but the cart wasn't "laser" but had a sticker with the cover artwork on it.

Just FYI: I've never heard them called laser carts -- maybe in Japan it's a common term. I think the most common term is pulse line carts, since the design very clearly resembles a pulse line.

Yeah, Eric claimed earlier in this thread it was only him calling them laser carts after having read this expression somewhere on the net. On jpn pages I've seen 初代 (shodai; "1st generation") a couple of times while the silver rereleases are simply called 銀箱 (ginhako; "silver box"). However, we all know what we're talking about :)

    btw
I just bought Popeye and Donkey Kong JR (in more or less satisfying condition I hope). I wonder what a very good conditioned Mario Brothers would go for as the only ones I can find on yahoo are in rather poor condition, starting at about 25$. (???)

For that matter, how much would an actual Famicom or Super Famicom go for brand new? They arn't exactly rare, but new?

I'm currently looking for "Abadox: Jigoku no Inner Wars", "Max Warrior: Wakusei Kaigenrei" and "Metro Cross". Anyone out there to tell me some reasonable sums I should be prepared to pay for those? I just missed a Metro Cross today for 3500 (along with some other good games, so that would have been a bargain I guess), but never saw Abadox or Max Warrior.

In addition I'd like to know the price of a complete Hitler no Fukkatsu (aka Bionic Commando in the West). I'm just a bit reluctant with that one because I don't know what the guys from the German customs might say about this in case I had to open the package o_O

a CIB Hitora no Fukkatsu usually goes for about 7000~8000JPY so i guess in germany you can expect about €60 and upwards.
