Also a bug in their employee network showed there is a team actually working on the game

So not all of valve seems focused on making controllers with speakers........2 speakers, plus another=3, HL3 confirmed?

Saw this on Facebook yesterday. Exciting stuff. Looks like it's time to bite the bullet and get that new GPU I've been after.

Old news? My impression was that Half-life 3 as well as Source Engine 2 has been popping up in their bug tracker for months. Anyone who thinks they aren't working on HL3 is crazy. To what capacity is an entirely different question.

I'm betting on E3 this year.

Well the news is that the team has grown since the last peek at the project list. Last time, even though we knew they were probably working on it, we couldn't know for sure since there's a whole ton of dead/finished projects on the list as well. But now it looks to definitely be in active development. :)

Alongside Left 4 Dead 3 of course. :\ Not super excited for more zombie massacre myself, but will be interesting to see what they do with it. Wonder if the Midnight Riders will be the playable survivors....

At this point, I'm highly skeptical of anything short of an official announcement from Valve. When it comes to something so highly anticipated by so many people, it's really hard for those people to remain objective and not to try to get others' hopes up.

It's coming up to five years since Episode 2 was released, Valve have got to have been doing SOMETHING in the past five years, aside from making stylish TF2 hats. And by a funny coincidence, October 10th is when ep 2 was released, which is a week away from today.

If there was any announcement in the near future, it would be in November, since HL1 and HL2 were released in November. I don't think it will happen but that's still a pretty close and significant month.

Have you seen those cancelled ARglasses valve was working on?

What about the biometric controller? thats another thing you don't exactly put together in a month

TBH I think valve was stumbling around with many internal projects these years, gaben himself says the company totally missed the social and mobile games bandwagon

I don't really mind this lol.

Also Valve did do Left 4 dead 2, CS:GO, Dota 2, Portal 2, are working on Steambox, etc over the last 5 years. Nothing groundbreaking for the most part, but it's not like they've been sitting around doing nothing.

This is great for all those HL fans, I never really got into HL though, not sure what I'm not seeing... Although I like the game based off it's engine "SiN"

FINGERS CROSSED!!!!! HL1 was incredible and HL2 then took it to the next level!!!! The Episodic content while pretty good...left a lot to be desired...they were very short...can't wait for HL3 though!!!!!

By the way, check out the Charlie Sheen science fiction movie, THE ARRIVAL from 1996!!!!! It came out BEFORE Half-Life and is very similar in fact, CHARLIE SHEEN looks almost exactly like Gordon Freeman in the movie and even wears a hazard suit at one point!!!!! Charlie really does a GREAT acting job (I'd say THE ARRIVAL was his BEST!!!!), he did some great movies before 2 1/2 men, etc. He did Wall Street, Platoon, Major League, Eight Men Out, and Navy Seals (Its Top Gun (another favorite of mine with Tom Cruise), this time with Navy Seals)!!!!

True, but Half-Life is one of their biggest franchises, they wouldn't just leave it languishing, they had to at least have been briefly working on episode 3 at some stage.

Valve is notorious for taking forever to do things. I'm sure they'll release it eventually, maybe just not for a few decades. :p

I'll BET, very good money, that in order to get the Steam Machine to sell upon release day, they'll say that the only way to get Half Life 3 (for some allotted amount of time) will be as a Steam Machine launch exclusive.

The GTA V soundtrack has the perfect song response:

What? Navy Seals is godawful, you should've mentioned Hot Shots instead.

That makes no sense, because the Steam Machine runs SteamOS, and any PC is capable of running SteamOS. So if they release it for the Steam Machine, any PC would be able to run it. I doubt they'd even go that far.

Eh, good for them, it looks like the social gaming bubble is slowly leaking.

At this point, given the masses frenzy for it, can HL3 really live up to the expectations it's got on it?

That COULD make sense. They can do anything they want. If they want it to only run on a Steam Machine, they can make it do that.
